Validator is down again, but who needs a validator anyways? If work is being rejected there are no WU's to count. LOL!!

98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8

And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer.

The validator has been down for a couple days or so. Steve, don't take so many naps, it takes time away from reading these forums. ;-)

I'm now down to 9 SETI WUs. Maybe I should do a project reset as well. I'm quickly running out of LHC WUs and LHC has no work to send out. I want to at least get pending credits from SETI if and when I run out of LHC WUs. I'm not getting any pending if WUs are getting rejected by the server(s).

After reading loads of posts on here I guessed I had a bad batch of wu's and thought I would try deleting them and downloading new one's to see what happens. So far so good.I noticed the error messages started when the dates changed on the wu's.If your wu's are all erroring out I would reset it.I thought I have nothing to loose and if error message still happen I will just switch to classic until people on here say it fixed.

Ok, I have just reset SETI. It's now downloading.

@Rachel, I read that you said the errors stopped when you had a different date on WUs. I'm getting 12 WUs, all with the same date, 14mr04aa. Is this the date you're crunching?

I think the whole status page is plain dead...
It demands it's from "As of 10 Oct 2004 4:00:03 UTC" and now is (see post time).
No further comment needed.

Ok, have fingers crossed. I have about 4 hours to go before my first WU will be finished. I'll check it's status then. I have no more LHC WUs to crunch and am not getting any from them. I think they've been down for a couple days now. Still crunching CPDN. I'm only 56.59% done with the first CPDN WU and have been crunching it 24/7 for about 5 or 6 weeks now. I am getting credits though. ;-)

When you reset doesn't it dump all pending units? If so why do that when the system is having troubles anyway? You just cost someone several days at the minimum of waiting for their credits to come in.

All the permanently failed uploads, refused by the server(s) are lost anyway, and most likely for anyone else doing the same WUs for validation purposes. My take on this is that it is not the software clients we are using: v4.09 Core Clien and v4.05 SETI Client. I understand that it is the server software with the problem and when the dev team gets it figured out we will need to download a new version of the Core Client which will have to be updated to be compatible with the new changes in the server software.

EDIT: Another wierd thought is that some WUs are getting uploaded with no problems at all. I noticed in another thread that someone had listed his failed WUs and they all had the same date, 14mr04aa. When I reset SETI this afternoon, it downloaded 12 WUs all with the same date, 14mr04aa. Rachel mentioned that her WUs are dated the same and are uploading just fine. Go figure....

No I did not because all wu's were being scrapped anyway. They were being lost when being uploaded. It is not the system, it is the wu's as all my wu's are now uploading fine.I think it was a bad batch of wu's.

Rachel, I believe you may be quite right about the bad WUs. I have been thinking about this and came to that conclusion last night. Some upload fine, some get rejected. My new WUs are now uploading just fine after the reset. The dev team says they may come out with another new version of BOINC. I believe they may be looking in the wrong place. I believe they should be looking at the splitters.

I am not convinced that it is just bad work units.

I have two computers running only the Seti Bonic project and have not had a single wu that has failed to complete the upload. I have been monitoring both systems using BonicView since 09/30 with expire dates starting about 10/09 which were still using the client v4.03 at that time. The newer wu's transitioned into the client v4.05 without any problems there either.

I don't really have an answer as to why I have not had any wu's that were abandoned due to upload error's but there are others that have not had this problem, also. Both of these systems are P4-HT rigs similar to Rachel's, so I don't think that it has anything to do with the system type or OS. Maybe some of us just have a guardian angel that is watching over our uploads. :-)

Now if they would just turn the validator back on so we can get credit for the uploads that have been sent. ;-)

Oooops!!

I take it back. I just had my first Permanently Failed Upload.
This one had a 'Report Deadline' of 10/18, so it would have been downloaded
on 10/4. There have been 7 others with the same date that uploads were
completed without error. I still have 9 more wu's with that date.
