Just FYI...there have been little or no problems
with the linux core clients or s@h versions, we
lack the eye candy that windows users enjoy, but
I think we have the benefit of trouble free
crunching...

IMHO Linux is much more efficent than windows,
seems to be more suited for BOINC.
NO MALICE INTENDED....

You are absolutely right! I also recently converted one of my computers to Linux, and it's running MUCH faster now, and besides Linux seems much easier to use.
By the way, what version are you running? I'm running Yoper, since I heard it was the fastest one.

Easier to use...sometimes.

Faster...that depends on the compiler used to produce your executable.

GCC is used by developers to compile seti for Linux/unix variants
MS Visual C++ is used for Windows.

Currently the optimization choices and abilities being used for windows produces slightly faster WU times (pre 4.05) than Linux.

Developers are trying to get it to compile now with newest version of GCC, which GCC claims is about 5-8% faster for x86.

Well, I can only compare with my other Windows machine, which with an XP1700+ took 50 minutes for a small LHC@home work unit. My Linux machine, with a Duron 1300MHz takes 45 minutes.
