How do you stop BOINC from loading on startup in OSX? I couldn't find anything in preferences, so I thought "no problem, just disable it in System Preferences:Accounts:Login Items". Nice and easy, except unchecking BOINC has no effect, it still autostarts.

Look, I don't mean to be a jerk, but I absolutely despise the BOINC software. I gave up on it a year or two ago, fed up with freezes, crashes, and it's inability to play nice with other programs. A few weeks ago I gave it another try, thinking that perhaps there had been some improvement. To be fair it no longer freezes up, and seems to be able to coexist with other running programs. However, the autostart thing really irritates me. I've done an informal survey of my geek friends and found that we all share the same opinion, that the classic software was great, we enjoyed contributing to SETI, but BOINC is simply not worth the aggravation.

Unchecking only stops it from hiding. You want to select it and click the minus button.

I´ve got the same problem here, are there any hides to fix it?
If not,i´ve got to uninstall SETI,in my opinion the classic Seti worked way better,

To stop Boinc from opening when you log in or reboot your computer.
Go to System Preferences/Accounts/Login Items. Then remove the check
in the box next to Boinc.
