I have had an 'Uploading' status for one of my SETI (CUDA) WU for almost 24 hours. When I check the server status, I find that 'bruno' the upload server is running fine. I have many failed upload messages of which the following BOINC message is an example (after I re-booted the machine: 28/05/2009 09:05:05 SETI@home Temporarily failed upload of 02mr09ae.10011.9066.7.8.128_0_0: connect() failed 28/05/2009 09:05:05 SETI@home Backing off 31 min 45 sec on upload of 02mr09ae.10011.9066.7.8.128_0_0 28/05/2009 09:05:07 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Those messages suggest something different from the server status page. I just wonder which is correct? Thanks. rTx |

The network connection to Seti is clogged up, there's neigh on no bandwidth left over for things like this. We'll all have to wait for a little slot to get through. |

This is why I quit.... My results will not upload. theres no point to crunch if the results can't be uploaded. |

But you have uploaded 5 results just yesterday! (Probably before the weekly outage) |

This is why I quit.... please understand that the Servers are turned off on Tuesday mornings(us Pacific time) for 4-6 hours. the problem is that Seti@home has so many people attempting to return work all at once the bandwidth gets eaten up. If you don't have the patients to bare with this for an afternoon so be it. BTW the BOINC MANAGER is supposed to manage the projects you are on. There really isnt any need to force it to do anything. The results will find their way home without any assistance In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Its Wednesday. One 'urgent' result stuck at 'uploading' for 24 hours. thusly: 6/3/2009 7:38:03 AM|SETI@home|Temporarily failed upload of 13mr09aa.2022.2935.5.8.126_1_0: connect() failed all other network functions appear normal. further: despite cable/lan, normally used by boinc/seti being UP (I'm sending this... 8)>>) Boinc 'popup' for 'can i communicate' popped up. In spirit of experiment, said 'yes'. BOINC started to start a dialup.... BOINC has been using the cable/lan happpily for YEARS... best dwp |

I'll repeat. its called BOINC Manager for a reason. Allow it to do its job. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

At this moment the bandwidth should be available. Could be something local that's stuck. First do try to exit BOINC and restart it and go to the Transfer tab, select the Seti result, click Retry. If that doesn't jar loose the connection, exit BOINC again. Next go Start->Run, type ipconfig /flushdns and click OK. Now restart BOINC and try the upload again in the same fashion as above. The command dumps your Windows DNS cache, forcing it to find new paths onto the internet. Now on the other hand, skildude is right, you could just let BOINC handle it. It'll retry and retry until it's been able to upload, all automatically. There's really no need to babysit the program. |

>I'll repeat. its called BOINC Manager for a reason. > Allow it to do its job. Ahh. 'The SW' is perfect, without fault. Do Nothing, be silent and WAIT... (hints: before posting I had rebooted/restarted. Twice Waited patiently, silently, for 24 hours. Within 10 minute or so of enquiring BOINC (?) came to life.) best dwp |

>I'll repeat. its called BOINC Manager for a reason. It isn't perfect, but many issues are at the server end and are resolved by patience. BOINC WIKI |

Waited patiently, silently, for 24 hours. That points to a corrupt DNS entry, as the Windows DNS cache is refreshed every 24 hours. It will then overwrite corrupted entries with correct ones. |

I experience a similar problem. One of my projects cannot upload its results (in this case Artificial Intelligence). I wouldn't mind if it were not that no other project seems to upload anymore since then. It looks like the failing upload blocks all other projects too. I would expect each project to try to upload its own results, regardless of the upload status of the other projects. |

One project not uploading does not prevent another from doing so. Mind you, with multiple projects as I have, I've seen more than one project go down during the same time period, especially on weekends when there is often no one to kick the servers. A look at my log from yesterday indicates that Boincsimap was acting up at about the time they were starting to run out of work. Uploads were failing and downloads required multiple attempts with several files only partially downloading (error in the size). The downloads finally succeeded but it took the uploads several more hours before they all got through. During part of that time WCG was also having upload problems. Malaria reported several time they had no work until it finally gave me a couple of WU. Other projects were UL/DL normally. This was just a coincidence. When you have as many project as I do, you get use to seeing the log littered with UL/DL error messages. I generally just ignore them. Boinc was designed to deal with server problems and just backs off and retry later until it succeeds. If it last more than a day or two I'll go look around the message boards to see if anyone has any idea when the project will be up again. I've had projects go down for a week before recovering, others have never come back up with work or simply died. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |

"I've seen more than one project go down during the same time period, especially on weekends when there is often no one to kick the servers." This would appear to be the situation enhanced when one considers this is a prolonged weekend for many due to the holiday. So, I expect that that is why I am having upload problems and will therefore not worry about it. Come Monday or at the latest Tuesday I will become concerned if they have not been resolved. Until then, patience is the word of the day - or the weekend, if you will. To the victor goes not only the spoils of war but, more importantly, the bias of history. |

I also meet the same problem. And the situation goes worse resently. Since several tasks can not upload, I can not get new tasks to run. |

None of my systems have been able to upload/download for the past 4 or 5 days and most are sitting idle. There has not been even one sneak through. Is there a problem with the system? I am aware of temporary issues lasting a day usually but this is a bit much for just bandwidth issues or clogged data processing. It would appear the project servers are down and I have seen no notices about it. Ideas? answers? estimate on time for repair? |

The upload server is disabled. Keep an eye on The Seti Server Status periodically to see if the upload server is enabled again. We all have the problem of not being able to upload. |

Well, there's also enough other threads around these forums which you could've read, that say the same thing. :-) But at least you now know what boat we're all in. Luckily my computers keep busy with the other projects I am attached to. If yours are doing nothing and you don't like that, there are some 70+ other projects available under BOINC, some of which show here. |
