Hi everyone! I joined up today, got my account sorted and can log in, (hence me being in here!), and have had a day of SETIing! I need 1 credit on my account to be able to edit my profile, but I can't log in to the 'pending credits' section on my profile to see if I have a credit there. I sent an email to support who said I have to wait, which is fine! But I was just wondering if anyone knew roughly how long it would be before I can access all of my account features - will I get a welcome email from SETI? I haven't had one yet, and I still can't add a profile.

Also, just wanted to know if I have to upload anything to the website, or if the BOINC programme does all that business for me? I don't want to lose data and this is all very new to me! :-)

Sorry for all the confusion - as I've said I have an account but can't access many of the features so I haven't been able to read up on everything yet! :-) Thanks to everyone that reads this! And sorry for the dumb questions!

I just answered this very same question. Seti is having a few hiccups. Sorry that you jumped on at a bad spot. When things get rolling again you'll see more info. As for your completed work. You have to wait for your wingman/wingwoman to confirm your results. this may take a day or months depending on the work and how many times it needs to be sent out.

(and no, you'll get no welcome email, they only ask you to come back if you seize computing ;-)
As skildude already said, it's not (only) a problem with missing credits that you can't access all functions, but with the replica database at SETI, where all that information is searched for (and not to be found yet).
If you look at the Server status page, you can see the status of the replica. Currently it is about 15 hours behind the master and it has often been offline in the last days.

If you have a permanent connection to the Internet, BOINC will do everything on its own. You can control the progress in the different tabs of the BOINC manager (advanced view).

If you have any questions, you can ask here at the forum, search the forum for keywords or look up the BOINC wiki or the BOINC FAQ Service.

Everyone has been so helpful here I think that's all my questions answered; thanks for taking the time, and apologies if you had to answer the question twice! :-) I did have a look about in the forums but couldn't access certain areas. It's all a bit clearer today!

Now I can start waiting for that signal from home.... ;-)

answering twice isn't a problem. I get frustrated sometimes. YOur questions were more complex than why you couldnt get work. If you have troubles in the future there is a thread on the Numbers Crunching forum called Panic Mode on the Server. This thread generally has up to date info on server problems
