Both my computers started doing Astropulse around the 11th or so (I forget exactly which day). The deadline for the one on the big computer is June 9; on the little computer, June 10.
The computers are plugging away at this, but I am wondering if they will finish the job in time. The "to completion" numbers keep changing up and down, seemingly without rhyme or reason, so I'm paying more attention to the percentage complete. The big computer has just passed 38% (on the early morning hours of the 24th). It has an outside chance of finishing in time. But the little computer is still on 20%. Ain't no way it will be done by the 10th.
If the computers finish the job after the deadline, will the results still be accepted? Does close count? Am I wasting my time allowing the little computer to continue working on its current task?

If a task reaches the deadline, a new copy is sent out to be crunched by another computer. However, if you return the completed task before that copy is returned, you'll get credit if your task has no errors. The new copy will also get credit if it validates.

I've a question regarding astropulse work units. How can it be that I constantly get those workunits although I haven't enabled them in my preferences? Is there a different place where I can choose to omit astropulse at all?

Make sure your preferences look like this

Run only the selected applications
SETI@home Enhanced: yes
Astropulse: No
Astropulse v5: No

If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? No

Use Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) if available No

Use Central Processing Unit (CPU) yes

This should prevent any future AP downloads

25% of my sixteen systems have enough power to do Astropulse work units. Since the other 12 systems do not I have had to turn off the Astropulse and Astropulse v5 selections in my preferences. Is there any way that this selection could be moved to the system level like the way Home Vs Work is selected ? I would guess that many other users have the same issue. By being able to take Astropluse work units I could take few and bigger units that would be more band width friendly.

Maybe I am in error .... I have Astropulse turned off in my preferences because most of my systems are too old and slow to meet Astropulse requirements. Is the scheduler and Boinc smart enough to not down load an Astropulse work unit to a 500mhz box ?

If not this is why I would want to have the choice at a PC level rather than at a user level.

If you have it turned off in your preferences, you shouldn't be getting AstroPulse at all.

That said I want to do Astropulse work on the other 8 units .... I can't turn on for only some PC's and not the others.

Is this clearer ? This is why I was asking for PC level Vs Project User level preferences on this.

As Ozzfan already said, there are venues for the project preferences too.

All you have to do is put your slow PCs on one venue (e.g. home) and the fast ones on another. Then set the venues accordingly.

Perfectly clear, but I think you missed what I said.

Not only can you create different preference venues for your computing preferences, but you can also create different preferences for your SETI@Home preferences where you find preferences for running AstroPulse.

You can use the different venues to allow some computers to run AP while disallowing it for others.

Please see your SETI@Home Preferences where you find your AP preferences, near the bottom you'll see the option for adding different venues.
