Sooo, i am new here and i got some problems.
First:

I am using the advanced Boinc Manager.
There is an option called "your results" ( in german "Ihre Resultate")

If I click on it my browser opens a new window with a login screen where I can type in my e-mail adress and my password.

I am 100% sure i do it right, but just nothing happens.
I tried it a couple of times :(

Problem Nr.2

I am running a Quad-Core with its max Power (100%) but i don't get any credits.

I just don't get it :(

There is a problem with the replica database at SETI, from where those infos are taken recently.

When I try to see your computer details, I get "Couldn't find computer" and when I try to see your tasks, I get "No computer with ID 4946127 found".

So, you have probably wait until Monday, when the staff at Berkeley is in again.

Gruß,
Gundolf

You can run it now, it's only a problem to keep track of your results, not in delivering them.

Message 898652 - Posted: 23 May 2009, 14:18:24 UTC

got another question.
i was away for like 2 hours, and as i came back i saw my computer did restart itself without my permission.

there was no error message, nothing ...

i don't think its a virus or something like that, but what could it be ?
has Boinc something to do with it ?

Maybe indirectly: BOINC uses 100% of your computer, which is probably not used to that :-) and therefore gets hotter than usual and is healthy for it. So, it shuts itself off (and restarts).

As John McLeod VII stated in this message:
Take the case off of the computer and chase the dust bunnies out.

Gruß,
Gundolf

[edit] If that isn't enough, you could also tell BOINC not to use all of your cores by setting 75% or 50% (3 or 2 cores) in your Computing preferences instead of
On multiprocessors, use at most 100 % of the processors

Tuesday, more likely. Monday is Memorial Day in the US, a public holiday.

This is a default windows setting, that you can change :)

1. Control Panel
2. System
3. Advanced (Tab)
4. *Under Startup and Recovery / Click Settings (right side)
5. *System failure 3rd checkbox:>Automatically Restart< *UNCHECK this.
6. Ok/Ok boxes until everything is closed.

Thats it :)

why would you want your system to continue to run with a major error taking place. This doesnt sound like a good idea

It keeps the Blue Screen that shows the error message showing so that you can see what went wrong and possibly fix it. The machine is not actually doing anything except displaying the error message. It is actually a very good idea if you are willing to do some diagnostics.

yup, if you are smart enough to care what the problem is, then you know how to view it in the log or other ways. The reason to disable this is because, on some systems it will not halt on blue screen error, but flash it for a second and reboot, and continue to do this. That is why it should be disabled.

That is true if you ever realize that there was a blue screen in the first place.

I had one computer that would blue screen randomly, but it was only when it did it to me while I was sitting at the terminal that I knew to go look at the logs and discovered that it had done so several times before, but the magic reboot had hidden the problem from me.

The replica database is offline again. It handles all the details on (new) computers, tasks and all that. When it's back online, it depends on how much it is behind the master database, before these data are available.

You can check the status of the replica database on the server status page: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html
