Hi from New Zealand! I've just installed BOINC on a new computer running Win XP SP2 on a dual-processor Xeon board. Everything runs well, but none of the Web Sites buttons work. (SETI@Home, Message Boards, Help . . . Donate.) When any of these is clicked, IE tries to go to 130.123.128.117, which has no server (I tried pinging it) and so times out. The IP address also doesn't connect on any other computer. 1. What's up with the above IP address? Is it still valid? 2. How do I get BOINC to use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer? 3. Can I change the home page URL/IP that BOINC tries to access? Thanks most kindly for any help. Keith lionheart01@slingshot.co.nz |

1. What's up with the above IP address? Is it still valid? I think that's a DNS problem. The button shouldn't try to connect via IP address but with the URL setiathome.ssl.berkely.edu, which (according to ping) is translated to 62.157.140.133. [edit] I just verified that by looking at account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml in my BOINC data folder. [/edit] 2. How do I get BOINC to use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer? Try this FAQ 3. Can I change the home page URL/IP that BOINC tries to access? I believe not, but I don't think it's necessary; see my answer to 1. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben.
