	I have the opportunity to get myself a lot of seven 7 p4 2.0ghz systems. Are they worth anything for seti. Or will a single quad core cpu kill them off. Thank you ____________

	They will score you less than 500 RAC each. That's a lot of (electrical) power consumption for very little return. A single quad (6600) will smoke all 7 of those by 2 to 3k RAC. I had a couple of those running for a while. Just wasn't worth it to me. $.02 Rob ____________

Thank you A single Core 2 Duo would have a 50/50 chance of beating them. If you need to keep your room warm and like blinking lights, fine. But for serious crunching, any quad core will smoke em. Ian

Absolutely - my E6200s with ~2.4k RAC will lose, but I'm certain the E6550 will be able to beat them, at about 1/5 or better of the electrical budget. Make sense only in winter, and have it turned on to replace a 1kW electric heater so something similar. ____________

Or an i7 ... :) That's fundamentally quad-core too, but with each having two threads, there's effectively eight "cores" seen by the OS. An i7 is out of My reach, So I'll stick with My two LGA775 cpus(Q9300 M1 stepping and a QX6700 B1(ES) stepping) as they both will run at 3.51GHz and 3.52GHz each. ____________ BSG Anthem My Facebook page
