Hi all! TIA for help! After the demise of my *nix farm (and the job that went with it) the only machines I control are laptops, which I didn't leave on. After a 290+ day hiatus, SETI@home sent me an email asking me where I was. That's funny: (1) SETI searching for me means what? (2) they found me at home means what? I found resources to donate, and so downloaded BOINC. Now comes "add Project" Where on the web site are the descriptions for Malariacontrol.net Docking@Home Climateprediction.net World Community Grid The Lattice Project PrimeGrid SETI@home (I know this one) Milkyway@home SZTAKI@home SIMAP Cosmoloy@Home AQUA@home Einstein@home (I know this one, too) Quantum Monte Carlo at Home (I wrote a paper on Monte Carlo methods) Leiden Classical (is this like new Coke and Coca Cola Classic?) et cetera for all the wonderful projects that I can donate resources and time to. Where are the descriptions? Shouldn't these topics / projects be easy to find on the web site? Just my $0.02 neutron (newtlove.org) Newt Love The most famous person nobody has heard of. http://newtlove.com/ |

Each project is independent so it is probably best to visit the various projects to get a feel for it. In the attachment wizard there is an icon at the end of the each project name that links to the project web page where you should be able to find a description of that project and its aim. On the Boinc home page is a link Choose projects which lists by category some of the main projects. Hovering the mouse pointer over the project name provides a pop up bubble with a short description of the project. EDIT: The above is only a partial list of the 50+ projects in various stages of development. A more comprehensive list can be found on third party stats sites like Boincstats.
