I dont know about anyone else, but I have been getting a LOT of low angle WU recently. I would get a few here and there but it seems that the majority of my WU seem to be those lately. Is anyone else having this happen?

Also, what does the 'WU true angle range' really mean? Why does it take the card 3-4x's longer to run these?

I heard there was an ap to weed these out, is that true, and is it complicated to install/run? Part of me likes the idea of running the faster units and getting higher credit, but then part of me likes the idea of running these unit that people are trying to avoid to help seti/science.

Hold that last thought... There are many people running Raistmer's "VLARkill" mod which reports an error for any VLAR WU so it has to be sent out to someone else to crunch.
If you go look at Josef Segur's posting history you will be able to find all you want to know (and probably much more ;) about what the Angle Range represents and why VLAR's require more processing.

I have definitely noticed a majority of WU are low angle lately. If it is true that more and more people are running programs to avoid them, I think its time to do something about the amount of credits they generate. Some of us get stuck with low angle all the time because others avoid them, taking away the fun of the competitive side of Seti@home. The work units have to be crunched no matter what, so It might as well be me...

For most of us avoiding VLARs, it's not the amount of credits it's the fact they screw up our CUDA graphics cards. If they could come up with a way (I believe Raistmer has but it requires running a perl script) to send VLARs to the CPU instead of the GPU I would gladly run them that way. Problem with that though is that I am only getting APs for my CPUs and don't get 6.03 MBs because of it.
