What is everybody's favourite SETI themed Science Fiction novel? Mine is "Encounter with Tiber" by Buzz Aldrin and John Barnes, followed closely by Contact. |

I have to go with 'CONTACT' by Carl S. Written, gee what has it been, 25-30 yrs. ago, and it still holds the standard, in my book. ... BETTER THE WORLD ~ PAY IT FORWARD ... |

Hey, klc, ya beat me to it! It's still an amazing novel--I've read it like 4 times so far. (I so need to buy new books for my bookshelf! LOL) Team SETI.USA Forums Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. ~~Carl Sagan |

Yea, I know what you mean. I've read it 2 or three,(can't even remember) times, but it's been awhile. Now look what you've done! I'll be digging it out right after the hockey game! And also, hello and welcome to James Stephenson. ... BETTER THE WORLD ~ PAY IT FORWARD ... |

Contact has to be my favorite. Another favorite where a non human intelligence was found is "The adolescence of P1". Sorry, I don't remember the author. BOINC WIKI |

Contact obviously a favourite here. I have read twice myself. One of the things I like about "Encounter with Tiber" is that it is written from the human point of view and the alien point of view as well. There are also some great scientific explanations. Quite a bit of effort was spent in consulting different scientific authorities to make sure the science was accurate in the story. I guess you can expect that coming from an ex-astronaut. |

Contact obviously a favourite here. I have read twice myself. I have the hardback edition & thought that it was an excellent read - shame there wasn't a sequel. |

Recall not Earth by C.C. MacApp . . . [meant to mention - Thanks Joker for the referral - baCk awhile] That 'quote' above is slightly mis-leading [in essence] - the most interestin' [imho] begins with Chapter 20 [regarding Time] and iT is a most interestin' read right till the end Chapter [24] . . . Thanks again joanne & richard > re: the Post Q. = 'Contact' of course BOINC Wiki . . . Science Status Page . . . |

Rendezvous with Rama A very good novel and the first part of 4. Another good read, But only only problem, They never met the builders of RAMA, Kind of left a few questions unanswered really. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

The Lensman Series By E.E. "Doc" Smith instead of being called Earthlings - we should be called "Tellurians" Classic WU= 7,237 Classic Hours= 42,079 |

The Lensman Series By E.E. "Doc" Smith Read those too, Plus some of Docs others works, Like the ones falling under the Skylark series of Books. As to Tellurian, I'm from Earth, So Earthling seems to fit better, but that's cause terra I think is Latin for Earth. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
