Message 924462 - Posted: 8 Aug 2009, 0:59:48 UTC - in response to Message 924132.

While she is not a raccoon she IS a Maine Coon supposedly from the Norwegian Wood Cats that accompanied the Vikings to North American. She might be tiny but can clear a 5 foot fence from a Squat position and is an absolute Berzerker! Loves to riccochet off of walls, cabinets, and anything else in her way. She has only 2 gears, flat on her back asleep and flat out pedal to the metal.
came to us from a local shelter and is named Bonkers.

Being 'the kittyman' and all.....
I prefer 'Maine Coon' kitties to domestic coons.......at least as pets go. My favorite breed of all.

But the Korpela coon clan are about as endearing as their species gets.

Nice to see some young 'uns.

Our first cat, Meow, was part Maine Coon. She was a big and very beautiful kitty cat, as your kitty is Hal.

Not to derail the thread from the wild coons populating your digs.....
But here is a site dedicated to the coon of the feline variety......
Verismocat...

Hope you and Eric are doing well, Angela.

What a stunning kitty! Is she a tortie-kitty? Our Stinky Lou is a tortoise-shell kitty.

Maine Coons are the most amazing breed there is..........

My barnyards are a Maine Coon mix.....(Squirrel.........my most insistent companion.......)and the kitty sisters.....Bandit and Purrball.........

Tortise shell kitties are mostly gurly kitties............a genetic thigny........

She might be, Normally I just say She's a Calico as I don't know the different types of Calico cats, Glad You like Her. She's on the small side and has never weighed more than 9lbs.

Some folks confuse the difference between tortoise shells and calico kitties............

Torties are mostly dark shades......black and brown and deep gold.
Calicoes are given to bright patches of white, and golden brown, and tans.

And my vet told me that torties are almost all gurlies, given to the genetics of the coloring...........

Meow.

Eric said the photo reminded him of the Last Supper, with the skunk playing the part of Jesus Christ.

A scratch-and-sniff picture. Smells like brimstone.

A couple of other name suggestions (if they have not already been used).

Bandit (too obvious, probably already been used)
Roger Wilco (from two way radio, as in "Who is Roger Wilco, and why am I always talking to him?).

Message 925306 - Posted: 11 Aug 2009, 5:00:37 UTC

Had a little unpleasantness in the backyard this evening.

Arthur (AKA The Fonz) came by and behaved in a threatening manner towards Mask and little Wednesday. Interloper Mama was under the deck with Tweedle-Dee and Little Cat A at the time, so there was nobody immediately near to give Arthur a much deserved nip on the ear.

Eric threw Arthur his own little pile of treats to keep him away from the babies, but that wasn't good enough for Arthur. When it looked like Arthur really meant to harm Wednesday, Eric chased him up a tree. Arthur sulked up there a while and then came down and skirted out the back of the yard.

It is so ironic that Arthur is such a meanie-bear to this year's little ones. Arthur is one of Interloper Mama's babies from last summer, so he is at least half brother to Mask, Wednesday, Tweedle-Dee and Little Cat A.

I know there is no way to keep the babies from eventual harm, but I am glad that Eric stepped in tonight. The way it see it, he's a hero!

I have had no luck getting pictures of the racoons that pass through our back yard from time to time, so I got one of our resident bunnies instead. There is a whole family under the pool shed, they had at least 2 babies this spring. This is one of the adults. The yung'uns have shorter, rounder ears the first year.

You should combine two topics into one, now you should post your favorite rabbit stew recipe in the Cook's Corner. :)
