Raccoons are supposed to eat snails, but you'd never know it from the tons of snails I have in my backyard! Why eat snails when there is free kibble and grapes? |

oysters got the same consistancy - lets group them in a bunch and call them McSnots and leave the local distributors to use whatever they want. Classic WU= 7,237 Classic Hours= 42,079 |

Yesterday I accidentally trod on the slug that comes into the house to help itself to the cat food. It had been coming in for ages and I managed to avoid it and stick it back outside but alas not yesterday. I have no idea how they get in. |

So's a Bear Cub, From a Distance, Don't get between a Mother and Her Cubs, She'll fight to the Death to protect them. And Yeah Raccoons do look cute, But their wild animals and need to be able to feed themselves and not be dependent on Humans who might get up and move away at any old time. We do not have raccoons in Norway. A pitty I say, since they are very cute ;-) But since they eat snails, I should maybe tip the government to import the little cuties, to take care of the snail-pain occured the last years.. I`ll rather have the raccoons than the mink around, who kill what ever, small enough, it can manage to come close to.. just not snails. :p ;-) |

We do not have raccoons in Norway. A pitty I say, since they are very cute ;-) I'd think twice about importing them! They are excellent fighters, and mostly can be found near sources of running water. They therefor are excellent swimmers and have been known to sucker dogs many times their size into the water and you can kiss that doggy goodby when they wind up on the dog's back or head. Rumor has it Norway gave us the Maine Coon Cat - for which we thank the Vikings, but I DON'T think the real Coon would be a FAIR EXCHANGE. Classic WU= 7,237 Classic Hours= 42,079 |

We do not have raccoons in Norway. A pity I say, since they are very cute ;-) Agreed, that would be a stupid idea, Clearly an introduced species will play havoc for a long time in the natural environment until everything adjusts to them, If the affected species aren't forced into extinction first. We do not have raccoons in Norway. A pity I say, since they are very cute ;-) Thats exactly what happend when the mink came here. It doesnt belong here, and it has taken the environment a long time to adjust. Now, after about 40-50 years, it looks like theres a way for some of the affected species to survive.. But as I said.. now we have the "imported" snail.... (i dont remember the spesific name on it) Noone did it on purpose, to get these horrible creatures into Norway.. but they came anyhow.. Its said they like beer.. maybe they came with the alcohol-smuglers ;-) If they ever take any of them, the punishment could contain forced snail-picking. Yes, I`ll say thats better than to import racoons too. ;-)) |

Grandpa and Grandma in Indiana had tons of snails around - but they devised a way of keeping them out of the house and away from the well-head. They'd line the house and the wellhead with rock salt granules. We never had SILVER TRAILS inside or on the wellhead. I guess the raccons didn't mind salty snails either. Could that be called Raccon Snail Chips? :] Classic WU= 7,237 Classic Hours= 42,079 |
