We're officially three weeks away from the 10th anniversary celebration - I think Dave just put the official announcement of such on the front page. Jeff and I are bashing out all the details we can beforehand. I guess I will finally learn how to use powerpoint (at least the openoffice version).

I think SETI needs a BIG 10th anniversary banner for the home page, also for the forum logo. Anyone out there any good with graphics?

Too bad our dog Laszlo - a purebred Doberman we recently rescued as an adult from the pound - still requires much effort in the ways of socialization, including reducing his desire to hunt down and eat smaller animals. We're working on it. do what cesar (dog whisper does) get a rabbit, and a treat...... show the rabbit but also the treat and get him to like thetreat of over the rabbit!(or other small animal..) this may or may not work!!!!!!! it probably won't....... have fun with the dog... i have to attend to my miniature pincher....(Sassy) least all she does is bark! (although she loves to chase after the squirls in the back yard and go after birds when their on the ground.... shes only managed to get 1 bird, 1 chimp-monk.

Great zpm, teach the dog to associate rabbits with treats. He'll be bringing all the rabbits he can catch expecting you to give him treats for them.

But, at least, the rabbits/whatever may still be alive when the dog gets the treat! (in fact, don't reward him/her unless they are!) Oh yeah. This is the last tech news item for the month, so after much anticipation (not) the thread title theme this month is revealed: names of cats I lived with throughout my life, some adored, some not so much. I guess I am the same way with my cats. I named mine after comedians. I have two 8 year old cats George and Gracie (George Burns and Gracie Allen) and one 6 year old cat Bob (Bob Hope). Bob gives the two older cats no end of trouble. But I wish I could clone him. But I think he is so much trouble he answers to Jesus Christ before he answers to Bob. Thanks for the hard work guys! I took my laptop to Chicago during a recent trip just so I could crunch on the hotels power. LMAO! ____________

Trust Boinc to go on the blink when everything seemed to be getting better.

All the links on the HOME page seem okay -- with a few exceptions. When I try to download, I get a link broken response. Is the link really broken, or the site down? My BOINC would stop every night and indicate the password was not correct (?). I could EXIT and go to the Programs Menu and restart it and it would be okay for a day. I finally removed the application from this system, and now am unable to download a replacement.

All the links on the HOME page seem okay -- with a few exceptions. When I try to download, I get a link broken response. Is the link really broken, or the site down? ... Boinc is very much alive at Berkeley. However, after even any minor 'hiccup', their internet link is saturated with millions of requests from hungry hosts like yourself. Some requests squeeze through. Some get trampled and fall by the wayside. No worry for that, Boinc will retry when it can. You'll get through eventually. Boinc is designed to be tolerant of such lapses. However, for this link saturation, I wonder if the loading is yet higher than usual due to the VLAR -> 'normal' WUs transition and a 'side effect' of some of the optimised CUDAs?... I ran out of patience and went to the google cache page (May 2nd). There I was able to download version 6.6.20 and install it. It is now running on this box. I noticed that when I did the uninstall earlier that it did not remove the data files that are in the Documents and Settings path. These were picked up by the new download and began where I had left off. I guess I'll see if there is still a password problem tomorrow morning.
