I am having trouble downloading an Autopulse Work Unit. I live at the end of a long telephone line and only have dialup with a normal connection speed of 26400. To download one of these files takes about 50 minutes if there is no other activity. Normally I just start the download and leave the computer to run and come back in an hour to check on progress and log off if completed.

The errors I am encountering are;

4/28/2009 11:45:28 AM SETI@home [error] File ap_28fe09ab_B1_P1_00022_20090426_09192.wu has wrong size: expected 8392044, got 1989808

4/29/2009 9:33:33 AM SETI@home Temporarily failed download of ap_28fe09ab_B1_P1_00022_20090426_09192.wu: HTTP error

These errors occur after about 90 seconds of download.

Should I abort this download or keep trying?

Is there an explanation for this problem?

Will I have an usable file when the download is complete?

Thanks

Paul

BOINC will keep trying to download it a number of times (I don't know exactly how many times), until either it gets the file complete or reach that limit. If it gets the file complete it should be usable, if not BOINC itself will report back and on your task page you'll see "Error while downloading" (or similar) next to the task.

An explanation could be bandwidth is used fully at SETI@home or just slow/busy servers (webpages are slow too at times for me). I got a few of those wrong size messages too today, but later the files downloaded complete.
