Perhaps a more interesting, does anyone still use snail-mail? I do!!! All the time!!! I love sending and receiving cards and hand written invitations. I don't always manage to get Xmas cards out, but I rarely miss sending out huge batches of Halloween cards and Valentines. Eric and I both have older relatives who do not use computers (ok... way more of these dinosaurs are on MY side...) Anyway, I love exchanging newsy cards and letters with these folks. The telephone is just not the best way to communicate with those who are in denial about age-related hearing losses... And I use snail-mail to send boxes of homemade cookies to college students in the family. Snail mail is simply the best!!! All email has going for it is convenience. |

Wish I was in your family! I use snail mail to send small gifts to one of my friends who moved away and now lives too far away to see each other regularly. We keep in contact by phone / email every week, but occasionally send each other random stuff in the post, which is kinda fun :D The only other time I use it is to send Xmas/Birthday cards - or pay bills! |

There´s a good and simple trick to bypass some of the inconveniences attached to some email service providers: You have the option to divert the incoming mail to another different email address of yours by changing the email settings/options of the first/main email address. You still can keep the original received email in the incoming mailbox or just decide to move everything to the new email address, to avoid the mailbox getting full of mail (when someone sends you a big/huge attached file or document). In my case, I use my domain email account "nom.es" and I have it linked to a new/different email address through gmail, which has much more storage capability and better spam filters and much less advertising. Opening a Messenger/Hotmail account takes more time to me as well. |

I am using Seamonkey mail on Linux. My ISP has 4 domains and I have two mailboxes where I can download mails, files, images, etc. I have also 2 mailboxes on 2 former dialup providers, plus an ieee.org alias that still works although I am no longer an IEEE member. All mailboxes have spam protection, but when my brother mails me from another provider my telecomitalia ISP thinks it is spam and I must redirect it to my primary mailbox. Tullio |

I don't receive to much snail mail anymore, Bills are online now and the relatives who used to send See's Candy or Fruitcake(from Texas where the best is made at, yum, See below) have all passed away. , My relatives who are left don't mail stuff any, So that's one thing I miss, sigh. I'm nuts for their Fruitcake. :) The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I used to use Compuserve - until they claimed that they did not support the OS I was using (the OS was about 2 years old at the time and it had been working up until that time.) The email I give to people that I want to be able to contact me for a long time is forwarding only through a professional association I belong to. That email address has lasted longer than any other email address I have had. I use both GMail and the ISP provided email accounts. The ISP provided account goes through Outlook. My office uses Lotus Notes (YUCK). I stil use snail mail for some things. So far, signatures sent through email are not legal. And there are some things that need a handwritten letter. BOINC WIKI |
