	So, Swine Flu is Mexico, America, Canada, UK & Spain right now and appears to be spreading - as you might expect in a modern world with air transport and borders that are easy to cross. Question is though, how bad is it really? I am supposed to travel to America (from the UK) on Saturday and right now am starting to think that travel restrictions might come into play before I make it over. The European Health Authority are recommending people don't travel unless they have to, but frankly, that won't get me a refund on my air fare, so I have to travel or lose my money and my holiday! Don't get me wrong, I still want to come over if my holiday can continue as planned... Do you know anyone that has been affected? - If you do, where are you? ____________

It might help you in your decision. If it were I, I'd go through with my plans. Just continue the precautionary measurements that the governments are issuing. No one I know of out here has It, But then there are so few that do have It in the US, As opposed to how big a country the US is, Besides It's described as Mild in the US and I remember the swine flu being mentioned in the 70's and I never got that, Nor did anyone that I know of, Family or not. So It's mostly hype right now, Washing hands and what not isn't hype though as It can be passed from person to person and It can live on inanimate matter I've heard on the News(but not inanimate-antimatter I'd think;)). And when one sneezes, Cover Your mouth like was said at one time. Also all the deaths(149 so far) are only in Mexico, I mean there are only 40 cases in the USA, 28 in NY state(at a high school), 7 in CA, 5 unspecified and that's hardly anything, So I wouldn't worry too much, The odds of getting the swine flu, To Me are rather low I'd think. ____________ BSG Anthem My Facebook page

	supposedly there are only 40 cases in the US. the problem and hype about this virus is that its the N1H1 variety of the influenza virus. this is a very nasty virus. This is the reason behind the hype. It would have been better for newsies to actually explain why this was important than just saying it was. ____________ Proud member of TSWB. 	So I wouldn't worry too much, The odds of getting the swine flu, To Me are rather low I'd think. Like I said in my original post, I'm not worried. I am more concerned about having my travel plans blocked! From reading the various news sites, it seems to me that the British media are making far more of this than the US media. ____________

	7 confirmed cases in San Diego already, 40 confirmed cases of swine flu in the United States . Health officials will start "monitoring" for it at the border; whatever that means. ____________

The problem is in Mexico. 200 deaths, and climbing, out of 16,000, and climbing, known cases out of a population of 180 million. World wide this flu is currently only affection people in the 20-40 year old range. In the US it seems to be limited to college students who were in Cancun for spring break. So the answer is stay away from college students. I personally am not worried at the present time. It does have the potential of being really bad, but it's far from it now.
