Did seti classic have more volunteers than the actuell one?

They do say that they had a million users, I rather doubt that there were all crunching actively at the same time but 500,000+ is quite possible.

Boinc Seti peaked at about 300,000 active user. It currently has about 140,000 active users with 240,000 computers and all the combined Boinc 50+ projects have 300,000 users active with 500,000 systems.

Further, Boinc-Seti has re-analyzed most of the Seti Classic WU using the more advanced Enhanced apps. Arecibo is producing (7 time?) more WU's because of the multibeam recorder. Today's computers are so much faster and often have multiple CPU. It's a good thing we now also have Astropulse analysis to do or we would run out of work. We are slowly falling behind again, so work todo is is being accumulated again. That won't last as people upgrade their systems with higher numbers of CPU and start processing more with CUDA and soon I hope OpenCL video cards.

That milestone was passed within 6 months of BOINC going into production.
