I noticed recently that my BOINC is showing no work done for SETI@home since 4/2/09, and apparently even longer for another project (climateprediction.net).

I've seen some messages about SETI@home outages recently, but they appear to have been fixed, yet my system doesn't seem to be getting any tasks. The message log just has a string of "Communication deferred" messages.

I have BOINC Manager 5.10.45 on Kubuntu 8.04.

Any thoughts?

What's the reason for the deferral?

something appears wrong, here. your last WU too 246 hours to complete. That seems like an excessively long time for a 3.4Ghz CPU.

Have you attempted to update seti? any messages?

Or nothing is wrong as he is also running ClimatePrediction.Net, which may be using the CPU(s) now in the old pay-back-the-time-spent-on-Seti fashion.

sounds like he's not receiving work. although he may have meant something else by this. I can't get access to the CPDN site to check his Workload there. CPDN is flaking on my work PC

No, CPDN is off line due to server problems. That's apparently the latest new thing to have in BOINC-land.... server problems and database problems. ;-)

@Beckfield, can you please post your BOINC startup messages?

Message 902926 - Posted: 2 Jun 2009, 15:30:37 UTC - in response to Message 887311.

Sorry to ignore this for so long. I had some real-world events which took me away from this for several weeks.

I'm not sure what happened, but recently both SETI and ClimatePrediction started working again, as of May 20. I can't explain what might have caused this. Nothing unusual occurred that day on my system, no new software, reconfigurations, etc.

Thanks for your willingness to help.
