I found another link that states, "The Lotus Seven is a kit." Check this out...

Lotus Seven Series II as in The Prisoner.

Here's a link to a real Lotus. KAR 120C used in The Prisoner.

KAR 120C

However; this still does not help us decide whether or not Kenzie's picture is of a replica/kit car or the real thing.

My pictures are accurate: don't know if it matters but the car I photogtraphed had left side (North American) controls.

Kit kar. Look at the wheels. They are 4 lug VW type wheels. The Lotus used a 5 lug pattern.

Umm....I believe the Lotus 7 Series had 4 lug if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps you're thinking of a different model of Lotus than the Seven?:

Timelord, the Lotus Seven used in The Prisoner was indeed a kit car. Not all Sevens are...

I promise, I will lie like a bad rug on a bald guy in a bar.

But in this case, if I ever see the car again, I will make a ton more images and wait for the owner to show up and will demand he be accountable for confusing all of us innocent seti-folk.

LOL! Main Street and 20th Ave, Vancouver was where it was about 9 hours ago. Where it is now, I haven’t a clue.

I stomped around those streets for many years.
That's just a few blocks from my old high school--Sir Charles Tupper--

Funny but I don't remember that car being there. LOL
Nice pics.

I think it's a kit car due to the width of the rear fenders.
The lines don't seem right on the first photo.

I believe this is a Caterham a kit car that you can build your self or have the manufacturer build to your spec at a "small" fee so the combination engine and chassis,so long as it fits the bodywork,is only limited by your wallet.

Great point! Hmm, perhaps the Vancouver/BC license plate on this vehicle can "answer" whether or not this is a kit car. According to this Canadian auto insurance website you can only qualify for use of a collectors plate and insurance of the collectors plated vehicle by meeting certain standards, one of which is this:

"Your vehicle is a true vehicle, not a "replicar", "replikit" (kit car), cab/chasis, or motor home."

So, am I reading that correctly--that a kit car would not be entitled to use a collector license plate such as the one located on our original vehicle pics posted here?

As the previous post was a bit big thought I would split it a bit.

This is a series 2 same as KAR 120C from the Prisoner.

Close, but not quite.

There were no series 1 left hand drive, and series 4 had the nasty square front grill.

There's a guy locally who has a Zimmer; he frequents the local Denny's around breakfast time; the next time I'm there, or even just in the area, I'll get his permission to take some pics and post them for y'all.

Bernie, its good that the old classics still get the beep huh!

It hasn't got anything on the Mercedes 190 sl, which has a simliar front on the later model. I had the 280 SL convertible of 1968 which was the first car to have ABS [air braking system} and power steering. The lower photograph has one at the side.

These cars now really generally have low insurance premiums which require the driver using less than 300/500/1000 miles per year and that may be the reason that some license plates have special circs attached}.

I used to drive to Brighton {England's posh south coast beach area} and stay at the grande hotel and play some golf with my previous wife at the weekends [I played golf every day then]. I used the car for driving to my recording studio and for meeting singers with because it helps that some cars have character for particular jobs.
