I was looking at the Team Anandtech home page the other day and noticed that there had been a team foundership change request. I know our team founder (and the 3 admins), so I was surprised that the request had been made. Come to find out, user DMMD from Seti.usa had requested the change! He's not a member of team anandtech and is a very high producer (about 20,000 credit/day). I notified our team founder and he thwarted the attempted hostile takeover, but this has left a bad taste in my mouth. Has this happened to anybody else out there? Is seti.usa only the biggest because they're poaching unsuspecting other teams, or was this an isolated incident by a rogue agent? Team Anandtech is by no means the largest team out there, but we're typically in the top 20. How many smaller teams have had this happen to them over the years?? |

DMMD only joined the team back in February, and hasn't been all that visible in the team forums. My guess is he made an honest mistake and wasn't intending to do anything malicious. Besides, as far as I know you can't merge teams by doing a foundership change. :-) |

DMMD - PLEASE EXPLAIN YOURSELF!!!! If was a mistake then so be it, but if not, this type of action is not called for and NOT sanctioned by our team. I am not one of the team leaders, but I know for a fact that something like this is absolutely not sanctioned! And - Bryan Wallace, a change in team leadership will not "merge" 2 teams. So what you are implying here is simply wrong. |

1) Only a member of the team is able to request a team founder change. 2) The founder change request is supposed to be annulled if the person making the request changes teams again. 3) If the team founder has his settings to send emails for project notifications, he will get an email stating a team founder change request has been made. 4) The team founder change has a 2 month delay built in to allow for response from founders that are on vacation. our team founder, smoke, had major surgery a few days before the founder request was made. fortunately I was able to contact him and the situation has been resolved. I didn't realize that he was a new user. Sorry to make any unfounded accusations at seti.usa, it's just frustrating to see things like this happen. |

I received a private message here from Smoke this morning. DMMD’s alleged action is not in line with our team’s values and in no way was sanctioned by team SETI.USA. If I have any further information after contacting DMMD I will update Smoke through private message. |

Since this is being addressed in Private Messages (as is appropriate) I am locking this thread. Thank you to any and all who helped in resolving this matter |
