Message 875754 - Posted: 15 Mar 2009, 12:31:42 UTC

My last few results have not been given any credit and have been flagged as "Client detached". See <http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/result.php?resultid=1177296664> for an example.

I do not know why this has happened. I have not detached from the project or changed my account in any other way (except to allow my computer to be viewable and to disable Astropulse (and these changes were done long after this problem started.).

Anyone have an idea as to how this happened and/or how to correct it?

Anyone with access to your system who detached your BOINC from Seti?
When you open up BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Projects tab, do you have Seti there? If you restart BOINC, does it still show as a project in the Messages tab?

Can you post those startup messages for us, please?

Thanks for such a quick reply!

No one else has access to my computer so it is not possible for anyone else to have done a detach.

I am running on OS/2 so I do not have a Boinc Manager.

I see you're using an app_info.xml file to get SETI to work with your OS. The app_info.xml file usually tells the server which version(s) of the SETI app that your app has been tested with. What versions are listed in the app_info.xml file, and have you made any changes to that recently?

My app_info.xml file indicates version 513.

Seti doesnt appear to have the 5.13 as a current application. Seti apps page shows all the available apps. you might need to update your app and app_info

He can't. He is on OS/2 Warp, which doesn't have many people porting present code over to that OS.

I want to leave the seti program program. I can find better things to do with my computer than to tie it to seti.

Have you looked at any of the other BOINC Projects?. If some of those strike your fancy, attach to those, and detach from S@H.

If you cannot find a more suitable cause in the links John provided, all you have to do is uninstall BOINC and you're gone. There's nothing else to it.

Sorry to see you go. Personally, I enjoy helping out in such a tremendous cause. Perhaps one day you'll come back after missing out on all the fun! :)
