Hi I recently down loaded the new bionic to allow the co processor to do work. It shows up as available but does not seem to be doing any thing. My 2 main processors are still doing all of the work.

Hi,

Have you updated the drivers for the video card to the latest version?

Also, when you updated Boinc, it appears you still had quite a few MB Enhanced 6.03 on your system. Once more of those are completed you will probably get some CUDA.

Yeah I updated the drivers. I'll wait and see what happens when all the old units turn over. Thanks

I'm kinda in the same situation, I think. Running 6.4.7 and I want to use my GPU but I don't think it's in use. Only two tasks running and GPU temps are at about normal idle. Everything I read said that if you get the "CUDA devices found" message that you're good to go but I have a feeling it's not working right.

GPU drivers are up-to-date.

What am I doing wrong?

edit: to save you some clicking; GTX 260 with 7.15.11.7943 driver on Win7x64 beta.

Radioattack, It looks like your drivers are out of date. You should be able to get the latest one here... http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Not that you can get any work at this moment. The database is offline, it crashed earlier today. Keep an eye on the threads in the Technical News forum for updates on that.

K. I'll assume that's why it still isn't working. Thanks for the link.

On an unrelated subject, if I detach and reattach while in the middle of processing workunits, will I screw them up/lose them or will I be able to resume?

A detach and re-attach removes all current files, including workunits, for whatever project you are detaching from.

Ugggh. I just learned the hard way that installing a different version (6.6.17) of the client detaches you, lost two nearly completed workunits. Now it's telling me there are no jobs available. It looks like the normal servers are up so that means that there is actually no data to be processed or that it's only trying to retrieve CUDA WUs.

I assume it's the latter but how do I fix it? I tried changing my prefs to use CPU only but it still couldn't find any work.

Also,

This shouldn't happen. Are you sure you installed the correct version of BOINC? Meaning that if you ran a 64bit version before, that you now also installed the 64bit version?

It's possible (likely) that originally I was running the 32-bit. The 6.6 install was 64-bit so I guess that screwed me up.

I went back to 6.4.7 to see if I could grab some workunits but I'm getting the same 'no jobs available' message. So is that actually the case? Are there times when there is no data available for processing?

Mostly when the servers are down, either for maintenance or due to problems like the database crash they had earlier yesterday.
