The link gives outdated informations and does not mention MultiBeam and Astropulse. I am not surprised of the snobbish position of SETI Institute.

I've been guilty of this in many of my posts. Proper name for this project is SETI@home. Too often I have called it SETI. I just updated such mistakes in my profile text.

This reminds me of a sports car club I used to belong to in the midwest. Their name was Midwestern Council. Us noobs would always call it Midwest Council. An informal fee of $1.00 was imposed. Each time we said Midwest Council in front of a member of the board, we had to contribute $1.00. Examining my posts here, I probably owe SETI@home $50.

So, it should be called SERENDIP@home?

Setiathome is just one part of Seti, and is just one program of the many that run as directed by BOINC.

The term "SETI" is just a general term, its short for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence.

It a bit like the word "Food", it could apply to many different things.

Saiyasodharan,
I was also confused by this when i started following this stuff. In fact, i was even confused by this "@" thing because the same symbol was used in email addresses. So i thought SETI@home was some kind of email address. So i sent an email to SETI "@" home. Its funny, I'm still waiting for a reply....LOL

The official SETI site clearly says that SETI@home is not part of any research program of the SETI Institute. SETI@home is in fact a part of the SERENDIP Project. However, it says that SETI is a supporter of the SERENDIP search. In what capacity it does not say.
