Hi All,

Just rejoining BOINC and SETI after a long hiatus and running under mandriva linux I have got the manager and client running, however when the client tries connect to the seti servers to download workunits the error its getting is "Message from server: platform 'i586-mandriva-linux-gne' not found"

So is there a way os reporting another version to the server to get some linux workunits downloaded?

I think you need to use the anonymous platform mechanism. See this message point 2.

Hi All

Thanks for the heads up, didnt realise my client was so old........ downloaded the latest one, set it up under the home directiory, manually fired off the client and manager scripts from the command line, attacehed to seti which downloaded the WU without problems. Now for the next challenge... got an NVDIA graphics card that should be able to help crunch.... what option do i have to activate to know its happening.... or is it automatic?

Sadly, no. There is no stock CUDA app for Linux yet. Crunch3r did make one though, which you can use with the anonymous platform. See this FAQ, section "What about the Macintosh and Linux versions, where are they?" (but do read the rest as well, so you know what you can expect of the application).

As for "latest BOINC version", may I ask which one that is that you used?

Which version of Mandriva are you using?

You will need to install the latest nVidia drivers from the repositories.

[edit] Running Boinc 6.6.11 and Crunch3r's Linux CUDA app. [/edit]

All working fine here on 2009.0 (usual Boinc fun included!).

Happy crunchin',
