It send my a 200+ hour project, deadline April 1st. From my experience, the actual hour will always be more than the Seti estimate, so no way I can finish the project. I aborted the project but then the next one it send is still 200+ hours deadline April 1st. I have already aborted at least 5 projects but still keep getting those 200+ hour projects. |

Those long tasks are AstroPulse (AP) tasks. You can disable the downloading of those in your SETI@home preferences. You can also reach them via the ACCOUNT link on top of this page. Near the bottom of the preferences page, you find the settings to select applications. You should set them as follows: Run only the selected applications SETI@home Enhanced: yes Astropulse: no Astropulse v5: no If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications? no After updating the preferences page, click the Update button in BOINC manager's Projects tab (advanced view). After that, no more AP tasks will be downloaded. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) SETI@home classic workunits 3,758 SETI@home classic CPU time 66,520 hours |

Thank you ! Same problem here. Now solved. My pc must have been running these huge Astropulse projects for months and never finishing before deadline. The projects even continued long after deadline I recently discovered ! I wish to contribute but do not spend much time on the statistics..... Hmmmmmm |

I've been trying to find that setting for a while now (when I remember) Thanks so much for the help. I was getting tired of aborting the work and hoping it would grab SETI instead of AstroPulse. |

I've told the SETI settings not to accept Astropulse tasks but it still insists on sending them. Something is wrong with the software here, 6.4.5. |

I've told the SETI settings not to accept Astropulse tasks but it still insists on sending them. Something is wrong with the software here, 6.4.5. Did you make sure you turned off the second option, "If no work for selected application, accept work from other applications?" This setting, if enabled, tells BOINC "If you have no work for what I've selected, then go ahead and send me something else to keep my CPU busy." If you disable it, it tells BOINC "Only send me work for the apps I've selected. If there's no work for the apps I've selected, don't send me anything until you do, and I understand that means my CPU may go idle until you have more work". Of course, if you've changed the preferences online and you're using a local preference, the local preferences override the web preferences, so you'll have to change the local preferences instead. Also make sure your computer is set to the right location (---, Home, School, Work) and that the preference is set correctly for the location you have the computer in. |
