I took this picture a while ago, quite a strange RF-"landscape" compared to the regular noise usually shown.

Any ideas what this "mountain & valley" might be?

Mmmm... Quite a UFO picture there!

Best guess is that you're seeing the well known FFT valley at 4.2GHz that is an artefact of how the data is split.

Nothing new and it's in the FAQs... Somewhere...

Well noticed and a good question!

Keep searchin',
Martin

I think there is a better way to capture the screen while in screen saver mode. Just hit the Print Screen key and paste it in Windows Accessories Paint, assuming one is on Windows OS. Sure beats snapping a pic with a camera.

I have looked at the explanation for the graphics but it doesn't say if the faint boundary about the 3-axis, call it the "box" if one likes, means anything. Not that we are paying attention to the graphics all the time but what if we see a spike that jumps out of the "box" like below, what does that mean?

What does it mean? probably nothing. the whole idea of the project is for us to process the Work and the folks at Berkeley to use the ntpkr to process our results. generally speaking very high spike are likely to be earth radar interference. The results are matched up with known radio sources on earth and can be eliminated. If you've found ET S@H will give you credit for it. Until they get to analyzing the data we just keep on crunching

That's a bug in the graphics... It's meant to be within the box but sometimes it just isnt.

I figured that it is probably nothing to get exited about but just want to be sure if it is suppose to jump out of the box like that. I guess somebody has already answered that question.

I've read the procedure that is observed for making announcement about intelligent radio sources from interstellar space. But I can't help wonder if the University could have some kind of "arrangement" with state departments that require them to report to the state first. So, in the end, it is the state that decides "whether" to make such an announcement or not.
