Is anybody currently downloading Seti Enhanced work for CUDA? I am aware of 6 computers that are getting Astropulse for the CPU's but no Seti Enhanced for CUDA.

Anyone????.....

Is anybody currently downloading Seti Enhanced work for CUDA? I am aware of 6 computers that are getting Astropulse for the CPU's but no Seti Enhanced for CUDA.

Anyone????.....

My notebook just snatched a few from the servers. I had it set 'multibeam only' but have now returned it back to 'all applications'. It had been trying to get cuda/multibeam all day yesterday without success.

My main cuda machine has tried getting cuda now for more than 2 days without success and is doing astropulse only. I have checked with the work_fetch_debug option in my cc_config.xml and it says that there is some kind of backoff going on:

Host Project Date Message
zaphod SETI@home 28-2-2009 11:19:40 [wfd] CUDA: runshare 0.00 debt 0.00 backoff dt 41235.20 int 86400.00

That 'backoff dt' number is slowly going down. Some 12 hours to go, I guess .... No idea what caused it, this is probably something the servers imposed for some reason.

Regards,
John.

Yes, i've 1 tasks running now for CUDA, and 3 pending to be crunched. Check your settings(?). I 've the simular problem with AP..:), did the last one over a month ago.

Well this is really bad!!

Last night I left my settings to only send me Seti Enhanced work. This morning I find that one of my computers downloaded about 700 Seti Enhanced work units about 4:00AM. Now it's crunching in High Priority mode and has about 3 times my cache level on board.

So now I have the settings to send me all 3 projects. Will crunch whatever I receive. It is certain that either the server code at Berkeley is broken or the client code is broken. Probably both.

This entire project has been borked ever since CUDA was released in December. I expected better from UCB.

Yes, but you are using alpha software (6.6.11) and so mustn't complain.

Yes but there has not been a decent release of Boinc in many, many months. And by decent I mean one that will follow it's settings concerning cache level, project work allocation or even downloads from the projects one wishes to work. Even the recomended version has been redacted now and who knows which version of alpha works even partially?

One can only take a shot at which version to run and hope it works better than the last one.

Or you can simply stay with an older version, even if a new one gets released until enough time has passed with few complaints that you can give it a try. That's what I did. Of course, this advice suggests that people can/should wait on CUDA processing until it works better.

Still using 6.2.19.

Yes, in fact I had to slush them off to my CPU as I had so many of them I couldn't watch TV on my TV tuner card because they caused so much lag while trying to watch.....all the seti were running on my 9800gt's and nothing on my CPU...go figure.

On my system Cuda works great as long as I don't need my GPU's for something else. Which in that instance, Cuda won't back off for a second and hogs up all the GPU's processing time.

Oh well, I've turned off Cuda for now hoping they'll get it to be more cooperative with processing time sometime in the near future.

I installed a new 9800 GT this evening but it does not appear to be downloading or using any CUDA files, only the Seti Enhanced I was using before.
As the log shows below it does see the CUDA device.
I reset my project after updating my completed files, but still received more Seti Enhanced download files.
The 2 files that have completed are consistent with the file size and times of my anonymous platform, so I am sure these are not CUDA.
Updated the NVIDIA card with the latest drivers dated March 3rd 2009 and updated BOINC from 6.4.5 to 6.4.7.
As your using a 9800 GT and getting CUDA files, what I am missing here?

No cuda work arriving here either. I believe the server page is incorrect and no cuda work is being sent out.

My Quad Core + Dual GPU system got choked on 4 AP units with up to 400 hours processing time. I set the preferences to exclude AP units & deleted the one with the least processing (actually tried to move it aside, but boinc objected & appeared to wipe it out), then boinc downloaded about a dozen cuda work units, polished them off in a few hours & now back to 4 AP units. I have effectively a 6 core processor with 2 cores idle because it gets hung up on one type of work unit.
It would be useful if boinc/seti could make sure that GPU work is downloaded when there's a GPU to use.
Double checking the timings - the time to completion is dropping by between 8 to 20 seconds per second (in proportion to the claimed time 0f 112 to 473 hours) so I'm hopeful this might sort itself out soon

You may also not be getting any Cuda work units if your CPU's have enough work at the moment.
I think the system has not been set up yet to notice when Cuda work units are all done on a given PC and your GPU's are inactive. You may find you get more GPU work units for Cuda when your work load reduces to the level that Seti asks for some more work. It seems the system is only monitoring use of the CPU's "so far" and not noticing when the GPU's have run out of work.
Resistence is futile! {evil cackle}

I let seti run 36 hours to allow the new seti enhanced 6.03's to run out and will try again this morning with a depleted cache. I will set my daily for 2 days instead of 1 and see if any CUDA files download this time.

I installed a GTX-260 and BOINC v6.4.7 (on Quad 8300 sys) on 03-06-09 and BOINC immediately downloaded 4 AP 5 v5.03 but no CUDA work units. I also run Rosetta@home and POEM@home but neither downlowaded CUDA work units either (that me be normal for those two as I haven't looked to see if either take advantage of CUDA yet.)

Hi, well When I first installed CUDA I had to detatch and re-attach to project to get cuda units, wheren all cpu units disappeared, been using it a few weeks now, (have a XFX 280 GTX (XXX factory overclocked edi)(this refer's to PC: Wintermute)) decided to make use of my cpu to and installed aqua@home seemed a worth cause alas, it refused to send me anything.

So dismorning I detached it, figured its a dud or something on those lines and another project could get it, only to notice my cpu was working to for once (only 3 core's but i soon fixed that by cc_config.xml changing) and now I have all 4 cores + my GPU workin happily on seti, however, it only downloaded 20 or so cpu units, and it'll run out soon :( (AMD Phenom 9850 Black Edition X4), I've tried updating it manually (usually set to once a day and 10 days additional work) but thus far it has'nt downloaded a single additional unit, I really hope seti sorts this soon as the CPU of my PC is just going to waste thusfar.

It's worth noting I don't have a problem with CUDA units, infact, It's got so many in order to download 10 days worth I had to increase BOINC's hard drive allocation and it took several days due to the 900 unit limit's lol, on the plus side the PC's gone from around 900 avg credits (based on the amount of time I let it run) (I'd estimate it'd do around 1400 if i left it on 24/7 based on times I left it running longer etc)(tis my main pc so cant be running 24/7) to 2200 thanks to cuda.

Um... checking your system with a CUDA card, it says you have well over 590 Seti tasks. Do you want to say that you do not have any? They may all run on your CPUs, as far as I can glimpse.

Seti got a new scheduler this weekend to bring forth a fix towards the GPU and CPU scheduling problem. It already gives work to both on 6.4.5 and above, although the real fix will be for the client to do the scheduling as well. We're getting there with the latest Beta version. And then it also depends on what is at the top of the feeder, if that's 6.03 or 6.08 work.

no there all cuda task's alas, though their right about the note on the release blurb, a 280 GTX (specially the XFX 280 GTX XXX factory oc'd one(cost me 430 pounds) is a real monster of a seti cruncher, every 15 mins it chews through a gpu task, looking forward to setting up two of these things on my server(this pc is kinda transitionary, the core's going to a media centre pc and being replaced within current case with i7 core, when dx11 cards come out i'll buy 3 of em for main, and along with a 2nd one of what i currently have for my server I'll be crunching a pretty nice avg score, specially when they sort out cpu)

I was just gonna leave this one as is but when seti finally gained gpu crunching I figured i'd by a 2nd of the 280 to, the 285 at stock's slower then my 280 anywhoo, and as an added bonus I can run it in SLI as a secondary gaming pc to), seriously considering building an extra AMD PC with 4x PCI-E 2.0 slots, a couple of 1000W PSU's and getting 4 285 or whatver's out when I do card's running at some point.

There's no cpu tasks period, it appears I'll have to wait till CPU client fix as I've received no new cpu tasks, on the plus side climate prediction tasks are quite fat (2x2109 hour tasks 2x493) ought to give my cpu something to do until there's a fix, and it let's me download 900 a day, so plenty of spare space for cpu tasks.

Oh yeah for everyone not getting GPU tasks, no im not hogging them all, just detach from seti then re-attach, and ye'll start to get em, alas all your old seti cpu tasks will disappear so set your days ahead to 0 and get close to real time downloads before hand.
