Why would a MB unit run for over 20 minutes of CPU with no progress? After suspending the task, and then closing the BOINC Manager and the BOINC tray and then reopening them, my CPU time resets back to zero.

When I view the graphics, it says "Choosing optimal functions."

I'm running 6.4.5, no astropulse.

A reboot fixed the problem. But this isn't the first time this has happened.

We know as this happens occasionally to everyone. We suspect that there is a bug in the S@H code.

if your AMD is causing this please see this thread

this may be a solution. or it may be a red herring

I am now running optimized SSE3 apps for both MB and APs and have not experienced the WUs not starting problem at all, and my crunch times have shrunk dramatically. 2 birds one stone...thanks!

It is still happening to me with ver 6.4.6. Have to restart BOINC to get the GPU back to processing.Seems to stop when screensaver starts, or hibernating the monitor starts.

Probably when hibernating. If you hibernate the CPU, make certain the setting to stop BOINC processing after X minutes on inactivity is set to trigger just BEFORE the hibernation is set to come on. This should solve the problem.

Sorry, I should have said "hibernating the monitor"......not the CPU.
