I have a laptop with dual Intel processors running at about 2 gigs each and 1 gig of RAM on a 32 bit Windows operating system. I am trying to find out how I go about setting this computer to the max for running the BOINC software since I won't be using it anymore for anything but BOINC. Do I change options on the BOINC software itself under preferences or do I change something online? I am currently running Rosetta@home, Einstein@home, QMC@home, and seti@home. Also, if I do change the options online is that going to alter my new laptop's settings which is running seti@home, lhc@home, and milkyway@home? Thanks much for any replies I receive. |

As long as you let BOINC use 100% of your processors, everything else will be used as efficiently as possible. |

Also, if I do change the options online is that going to alter my new laptop's settings which is running seti@home, lhc@home, and milkyway@home? Yes, the online preferences are for all computers attached to the same venue (home, work, school, default). The preferences are forwarded between projects, so, if the computers have at least one project in common, they will share the same preferences. Hence, if you want different prefererences for your hosts, you have to attach them to different venues or use the local preferences. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Thanks a lot for the replies. I will make sure to use the settings associated with the preferences on the BOINC program on each computer instead of entering the info on the project websites. Again, thanks much. |
