As I said, CUDA installed correctly, SETI sees it: 2/20/2009 4:27:27 PM||CUDA devices found 2/20/2009 4:27:27 PM||Coprocessor: GeForce 8500 GT (1) but it doesn't seem to be running CUDA. The TASK tab shows 2 jobs running on my C2D but no CUDA. Can anyone help? |

Update: I detached and reattached to SETI and it works now. |

I have problem like you. My 8400GS Not running any tasks. I try to update my driver to lastest version <181.22> But it doesn't work. I think Geforce 8 Series are based on CUDA1.0 and Seti doesn't support CUDA 1.0 |

I think Geforce 8 Series are based on CUDA1.0 and Seti doesn't support CUDA 1.0 Seti does support CUDA 1.0 But none of your computers show an 8400GS. 3 show a 9500 GT, with none of them having returned anything. Do you really have that many computers, or are there only 5 and are the rest old IDs for those same hosts? |

Okay before you read below, I just noticed that the TASK tab is the same, 2 AP jobs but the TRANSFER tab is lighting up? Now if I only new what that Resuming/Suspending and downloading was about. It looks like the "PNG, WU" and "DLL" files. So I'm assuming they are the working CUDA jobs. My first notes: I just installed my new graphics card just for S@H and no new jobs attached to the GPU. So per everyone's advice, I uninstalled Boinic PLUS erased the folders and bam! It now works fine. The first uninstalled didn't work because of the original folders and attaching and un-attaching to S@H did not work either. Okay, now that the servers are up and running. I still do not have any GPU work units. But it looks like the boys over at BOINC updated their software from 6.4.5 to 6.4.7 for XP Windows. My prior was 6.4.6 but I uninstalled it 2 days ago and did a fresh install of 6.4.5 for XP Windows (Not sure why 6.4.6 was not an option). submitted for your approval. Please help, I just bought a $250 GPU just for SETI! I must find new life Spoke! Hi, After you've completed the AP tasks you have, you may be assigned AP or MB CUDA tasks, if you have them all enabled in your preferences. If you only want CUDA tasks, you need to go to your SETI@home preferences and make sure that both AP versions are deselected, and "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" is unchecked, as well as having "Use Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) if available" selected. If you plan on doing both AP and MB, you may have to juggle between AP and MB in your preferences, to keep the balance right, so that your cpu and gpu are being used, unless you are also running another project as well as SETI. Edit: if you haven't already, you will want to add a cc_config.xml file to the Boinc data folder, to help get all cores working. |

Hi Byron, Awesome that's for the info, I've been with SETI since Oct 2000 when my CPU was just a P3 550 MHz Processor! So, I feel like a real Newbie on this CUDA upgrade. Okay I've decided to juggle between AP and MB units. I have deselected "Astropulse, Astropulse v5," and "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications," leaving "SETI@home Enhanced" and "Use Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) if available" selected. I have read in "The CUDA FAQ..." string that BOINC does not have an automatic version, which simultaneously processes units via the CPU and GPU nor a CUDA version for Astropulse units. I'm sure one will be on the way soon. Last but not least (please verify for me). I created the "cc_config.xml" file to the Boinc data folder. <cc_config> <options> <ncpus>3</ncpus> </options> </cc_config> Changed "0" to 3 for my P4 3.2 with two cores 2 and 1 GPU. If I were you, id check out the GPU/CPU team mod. Look in the threads here for a link. This will allow you to run MD WUs on both CUDA and your 2 CPU cores. Not Ready Reading BRAIN. Abort/Retry/Fail? |

Hi Byron, Hi Dave, cc config file looks good, and should get all the cores going when you do get some MB. As mentioned, you could also look into the V9 of modified SETI MB CUDA + opt AP package for full GPU+CPU utilization that will let your system process MB with the cpu and gpu at the same time, as well as an optimized AP app, if you feel it's something you're interested in. |

Thanks for the link Byron but.. actually.. I was talking about this package. AK V8 + CUDA team mod There is a ton of info there and support. Read all before asking as almost any question has been asked. The new versions allow 64bit optimized AK apps along side the CUDA GPU and all also supports more than one GPU in a system. [edit] That looks like the same info.. Im a little confused now. It says team mod so I guess the link is good, Byron My Bad! lol Not Ready Reading BRAIN. Abort/Retry/Fail? |

Hi Byron, I've downloaded and decompressed the correct P4 CPU version of "Raistmer's V9" in to my BOINC folder and of course I already have a cc_config.xml made. I have selected all the units again in my account prefs as well and backed up my original files. P.S. Thanks Mike O. per your link, there was a note that answered my "How it works and is it working once installed." Woo Hoo, Dave |

Actaully, I should rephrase that. v8's CUDA app is similar to v9 but v8 doesn't include the current opti AP 5.03 app. |

Hi again Byron!! I think we are ALMOST ready to go. Today, I again detached and re-attached S@H and I finally started to download both the CUDA queues (36 total) and the AP versions (Normal 2 Total). Per several of the CUDA threats, I'm thinking that the CUDA servers were off line and are now up or have been upgrades, etc. One last thing my friend, I'm processing one CUDA unit (I have one GPU, so kool!) but only one AP unit instead of the usual two AP units are processing. the other AP unit says on the "Task" tab, "Waiting to Run." "cc_config.xml" is: <cc_config> <options> <ncpus>3</ncpus> </options> </cc_config> Suggestions? Hi Dave, I sent you a message about it. Just checking if you got it, (inbox ) and if you are having any other problems? As I mentioned in the message I sent you, it's possible you've put the config file in the wrong folder For you OS it should go in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC Keep in mind you'll only need the entry in the config file until a version of Boinc is released that fixes the gpu issue, which I'm told should be a version 6.6x. |

Hi Byron, Yes, thanks for the email. I was moving files to the correct location ;) I placed the "cc_config.xml" file in my, "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu" as well as the files for "Raistmer's V9" as well. All looks the same though. I'm still only using 1 CPU (AP Unit) and 1 GPU (CUDA). I did noticed something though. On the BOINC Manager "Task" tab, under "Status," it says, "Running (0.21 CPUs, 1 CUDA)." As before the other AP unit says on the "Task" tab, "Waiting to Run." 3/10/2009 11:19:15 PM||Starting BOINC client version 6.4.7 for windows_intelx86 3/10/2009 11:19:15 PM||log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 3/10/2009 11:19:15 PM||Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8j zlib/1.2.3 3/10/2009 11:19:15 PM||Data directory: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\BOINC 3/10/2009 11:19:15 PM||Running under account User 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.20GHz [x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1] 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Processor features: fpu tsc sse sse2 mmx 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||OS: Microsoft Windows XP: Professional x86 Editon, Service Pack 3, (05.01.2600.00) 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Memory: 1.50 GB physical, 2.85 GB virtual 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Disk: 179.31 GB total, 137.29 GB free 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Local time is UTC -7 hours 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Not using a proxy 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||CUDA devices found 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM|SETI@home|URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: 2378854; location: home; project prefs: default 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 04-Mar-2009 23:03:00) 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Computer location: home 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Preferences limit memory usage when active to 767.36MB 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 1381.25MB 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM||Preferences limit disk usage to 89.65GB 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM|SETI@home|Restarting task ap_19ja09ae_B4_P0_00143_20090310_14205.wu_1 using astropulse_v5 version 503 3/10/2009 11:19:16 PM|SETI@home|Restarting task 19ja09ac.20134.9070.4.8.14_0 using setiathome_enhanced version 608 3/10/2009 11:19:36 PM||Re-reading cc_config.xml |

Hi Byron, Dave, You'll notice in your message I've got in bold, the location you're saying you've put the config file and Raistmers app. Raistmers app does go in that location, but I've marked in red from your Boinc Manager log where the config file should be. Just to be clear, the config file and Raistmers v9 app are placed in different folders. Edit: after placing the config file in the correct folder either restart Boinc or go to the Advanced Menu in Boinc Manger and click on Read config file. |
