Running the latest verson of BOINC, and suddently in the last day or so my quad core machine is ONLY running one core. Have unistalled and then reinstalled BONC and still it is only running one task (on 1 core)

What is going one, and how do I get it back to running on all 4 cores??

John

2 places to check this your personal computing preferences page. Make sure it have has "use at most X processors" set to 4

Also check your boinc client and make sure your preferences weren't reset locally to 1

I was having similar problems. Apparently this is caused by the latest revisions in the BOINC programming. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=52022

I fixed this problem on my computer by downgrading to a prior version of BOINC.

It can also happen if you set your percentage of cpu usage low.
On an dual i set mine to 90 b/c it was laggin out the mouse thinking it would use each processor only 90 percent. What it did was floor( 2 * .9 ) = 1
ok just guessing at the math lol but that was the net effect.

so i moved it back to 100% and just set it to not run when in use and to restart after 1 min of non use.

never had any problems before but this is on a vista box.
:(
