For those with high end nvidia gfx, that has the CUDA capabilities, does this interfere with games?

Currently, I have not allowed BOINC from using my gfx card

The only good answer is a "maybe".

Give it a try. If it slows things down for you then simply set Boinc not to run whilst you're busy playing games.

All good fun!

I can only speak for myself and my 8800GT.
I play Q3 based Urban Terror (rarely anything else).

Yes it does sometimes.

When crunching Seti@Home I get a small sluggishness (down to around 40-50fps, from default 65fps) every several minutes, lasting for 10-20 seconds, then it goes back to around 60fps.

When I crunch GPUGrid units, the game runs at 40-45fps constantly, and sometimes crashes, together with WU being worked on.

The good news is, that I haven't experienced any crashes while crunching S@H WUs.

PS Say hello if you meet I_luv_headshots in game ;-)

Ah, it is here, ok, I have enabled the CUDA again, and will give it a dry run to see if it makes the ping high, if it does, then it is off for good

I play EVE Online a bit, or as my wife would say TOO #@&*ing MUCH!
I find that I drop about 10% FPS wise, and a lot more when a CUDA WU is starting, it seems to use more then the WU starts?
I tend to set BOINC to suspend work when the computer is in use when I am playing FPS style games, as I need every advantage I can get...... You can always set it back to run always once you finish playing.

The problem with this is that at present, BOINC does not unload the task out of the video memory. That'll come in the 6.6 series. So if you truly want to use all available video memory, you need to shut down BOINC.

When you're using the CUDA option, it'll saturate the GPU and take up at least 200MB of the video RAM. Anything else that the GPU has to do at that time will slow down. This includes drawing the Windows desktop and anything you run at that time (browser etc.).

This is especially true when you are running a Very Low Angle Range task at the time. The Seti and Nvidia developers are aware of the slowdown and are trying to get that fixed with the next application.

I'm still not sold on CUDA.
Even as a two fingered typist, I'm finding the delay factor annoying.

I'll allow CUDA to run until I can compare the results with my pre-CUDA RAC.

As for gaming, before CUDA I always shut BOINC down to play because of the lag.
Now I have to shut BOINC down to view emails.

Just sharing my experiences here. I have an 8400 GS and 9500 GT. When the 9500 is Oced to 750mhz we can game just fine and there isn't and slowdown in normal desktop. All the better cards never show any difference. I have to play musical drivers as every card seems to work best with differnt versions, but only one and every other one gives one strange anomaly or another. The other time I have seen this sluggishness is if the core and memeroy cards are not locked by default. Have a MSI card that caused me all sorts of pain. Got riva tuner, synced the clocks and now she purrs. Anyway's I believe if you have say 100 cores you won't notice a difference with daily usage.
