The MOTD, on the front page states:

October 5, 2004
UPDATED: We successfully swapped our database hardware, giving the master database access to much faster disks. Within a couple hours weeks-old queues drained completely. We're not completley done with the swap, but all parts of the BOINC system are back up and running full blast.

If this is true, then why are my WUs not uploading? I checked the server status and all but the last 2 splitters are apparently running. I just upgraded, on Sunday I think, to v4.09 CC, but still running v4.03 SETI client on older WUs. Have not gotten v4.05 SC yet. P4 2.8 Ghz 1GB L2 cache CPU, 800 FSB, 512 MB DDR400 ram. Any ideas....?

I have also been getting these messages since upgrading to v4.09 CC:

SETI@home - 2004-10-05 10:11:19 - Result 06my04aa.15945.16626.54842.129_1 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
SETI@home - 2004-10-05 10:11:19 - If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.

I'm getting this for all 3 of my projects. I never got this message with v4.05 CC. Any ideas....?

I experience the same problems - can't upload my results!

ditto! No real gain in credits either. Perhaps the drain is clogged again?

@KWSN - Terry West: Maybe it's time to get out the Drano again.... ;-) My credits haven't gone up in a few days either.

@All: "Full Blast" is, in my mind, a bit suspect to say the least.

I think something happened some time after they brought the system back up. It was working (and working better for a little while).

But, the real test a of a "fix" is time - how long it lasts. Looks like something gave out.

The scheduler has been down for about 2 hours, and with the upload problem, something seems to be non-functional! (and the stats page shows that the scheduler is running!)

But with the "upload problem", you can crunch a WU for hours, and then see it tossed!

This is like the last time they had to restore an old version of the DB, and work issued since the backup got lost.....

I see that uploads are now disabled... They'll scratch their heads for a bit, and do something tomorrow, but probably not let us know what happened! Kind of like the increased crunching time for the windows 4.05 seti client!

New News Update

October 5, 2004
The disk array holding the upload and download directories failed again this afternoon (right after the successful database swap). We're trying to get things back in order now.

Well, my WUs finally uploaded sometime after 10:00 last night. Now I cannot update. I read the news about the scheduler being down, but server status says it's up. All splitters are down now. I don't think that the server status page is getting updated quite right. Oh, and credits still haven't been awarded. I don't think I've gotten any credits since about Sunday.

EDIT: So much for "running full blast".

Got some problems uploading my WU's since a couple of days. Is this related to the server problems?

Here's what BOINC 4.09 says:
SETI@home - 2004-10-06 18:15:45 - Error on file upload: file size (11 KB) exceeds limit (0 KB)
SETI@home - 2004-10-06 18:15:45 - Permanently failed upload of 01mr04ab.2990.15474.915908.161_4_0

All my uploads are getting rejected due to file size exceeding limit of 0kb ?!?!

a little question:

- Started upload of 01mr04ab.2990.15713.311076.126_4_0
- Temporarily failed upload of 01mr04ab.2990.15713.311076.126_4_0
- Backing off 1 hours, 49 minutes, and 9 seconds on transfer of file 01mr04ab.2990.15713.311076.126_4_0
...
- Started upload of 01mr04ab.2990.15713.311076.126_4_0
- Error on file upload: file size (13 KB) exceeds limit (0 KB)
- Permanently failed upload of 01mr04ab.2990.15713.311076.126_4_0
- Giving up on upload of 01mr04ab.2990.15713.311076.126_4_0: server rejected file

and that for every WU. that means: all work is done for nothing, right?

Same problem

"Permanently failed upload...."

For me there were two reasons given - file exceeded 0

and

there was no file name.... (there was a file name)

on two separate work units.

They posted that there was a problem with the uploads and fixed the problem - but now there is a new error - last time the file exceeded "0" - now it expected 361812 and found "0"

So far I've lost 3 files to the upload error problem (one file exceeded "0" size and one file had no name (it did have a name) and one file was "0" in size (I guess it took about 6 hours to run a file without any size) - All files appeared to run normally at my end. I don't like losing about 18-19 hours credit.

Needless to say Seti@Home is shut down on my machine until I'm convinced things are running a little better.

Well, I'm baffled! What the &%#@ is happening with SETI/BOINC? I went for about 2+ weeks crunching WUs and with the exception of not getting credit once in a while, everything was going just fine. They come out with v4.09 CC and then v4.05 SETI Client and a big monkey wrench gets thrown into the works. Check this out:

.....

There are many, many, many more errors, this is just a SMALL example of them all. When it came to the v4.05 SETI Client, I got the .pdb file but did not get the executable.

I am going to reset the SETI project, since I only have 5 more v4.03 WUs left anyway. Hopefully this will clear up the scrambled mess! I'll let everyone know the results, one way or the other....
