Hi,

I was wondering if someone might be able to assist me with the problem I am having when installing boinc on my xubuntu laptop. When I installed the client and the manager for some reason it installs an older version instead of the latest one available. Instead of installing 6.45 it installs 6.2.12. I am a bit new at using a Linux OS so some details would be greatly appreciated. Hope someone out there can help me out.

Thanks,
Justin

The best thing to do is go here:
http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/

Download the latest version for Linux from the url above.

Save it to your home/dir and install it via xterm

open up xterm and type sh /home/userName/and the name of the program you downloaded.
That will install a BOINC folder in your home dir. From that folder "BOINC" that is in your home dir is where you start the program from...
