Have you tried either resetting the project, or detaching and re-attaching?

I've been getting similar messages in my Message Logs (X#X#X used in place of the actual project ID):

purplehatjoan, Seti had its weekly outage today. After that it can take multiple hours to normalize as all hosts out there try to get new work, report old work. Do NOT reset or detach and reattach as long as you have work to report, as that will be irretrievably lost if you do so.

Thanks especially for the Tuesday maintenance news...On Tuesdays, I usually do a software update, virus scan, system OS update and verify disk permissions every Tuesday and so that's when I peek at BOINC to see how "my" SETI Tasks are going...I guess I use to check earlier in the day -->before<-- the maintenance and it so happened that this day I must of checked -->during<-- the maintenance. I'll check BOINC & SETI Tasks status tomorrow or Thursday to see if the reporting has begun or not and if not...I'll likely be back seeking help! Here's hoping I don't return!

My problem has nothing to do with the Tuesday thing. I have been a member of Seti@home for many years and understand the server schedules and the bottlenecking that happens on Tuesdays.

Here's my latest messages just to show that it is not only on Tuesdays.

My computer boots up everyday with Boinc, and if it does not make access I just quit it until the next day.

Also got this message today: I just looked at your tasks list and it shows you had 5 WU - listed as "detached". If you are detaching and re-attaching frequently, it will dump any WU that you have. I don't think a "reset" will do that, though. Are you running any other distributed computing projects? What are the relative resource share numbers for each project? Do you leave your computer on all the time, or only a few hours per day? C ____________ Join Team MacNN

I just looked at your tasks list and it shows you had 5 WU - listed as "detached". If you are detaching and re-attaching frequently, it will dump any WU that you have. I don't think a "reset" will do that, though. I think it will. I never tried it out, but BOINC wiki tells: Ifthe problem persists, use the BOINC Manager to 'reset' that project. This will erase any jobs in progress and start from scratch. Are you running any other distributed computing projects? What are the relative resource share numbers for each project? Do you leave your computer on all the time, or only a few hours per day? No, he isn't, according to the account page. And the client is requesting work, so it isn't a debt thing. But there have been two tasks downloaded just today, despite those error messages. @Lenroc: did those download completely or was the downloading interrupted? I'm new to SETI and have been having the same problem. Does anybody have an answer?

There appears to be something wrong with the latest AP client - it downloads, errors out, then requests another... The status at http://fragment1.berkeley.edu:80/newcricket/grapher.cgi?target=/router-interfaces/inr-250/gigabitethernet2_3&ranges=d%3Aw&view=Octets shows the system is maxed out because of all this traffic. Hang in there; they'll get it fixed Monday morning.

2 Workunits? That's news to me. They did not show up in my Manager at all.

2 Workunits? That's news to me. They did not show up in my Manager at all... Okay, then that seem to be some "ghost units". That happens from time to time when the server connection is bad (which it is in your case :-). With regard to your problem: You could try switching from htt protocol version 1.1 to version 1.0. I know that the symptoms don't hint that way, but who knows? To do so, you must create a text file named cc_config.xml in your BOINC data directory (if it doesn't exist already). The data directory is mentioned in the message tab of BOINC manager after a restart. With a texteditor, enter (copy&paste) the following into that file: <cc_config> There are no lower case 'L' characters in that code, only digits '1'. More information to cc_config you can find here.<options> <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> </options> </cc_config> In BOINC Manager (Advanced view) select menu 'Advanced->Read config file' to activate the new configuration. If that doesn't help, there are several protocol/debug options you can switch on via cc_config.xml. Perhaps you (or someone here, if you post excerpts of your log) can get hints from that. Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. Sounds like you have a problem with a firewall, proxy or something else blocking Seti talking back to you. You are able to go out (Internet access OK), but things are not able to come back to you. Are you behind a firewall or proxy that is dropping inbound connections? ____________ Jord - BOINC FAQ Service - BOINC User Wiki Real is just a matter of perception.

I'm not sure about Firewalls or Proxys...how do I check on these items? Are you telling me to check with my work's IT department to see if they have changed my internet access in some manner and see if they have a work around or some way to give permission for BOINC / SETI to communicate with my computer? Or what? I've been keeping my eye on the online help page and no one with Macintosh help has been online when I've been seeking help...unsure if we should carry-on a step-by step try to find out what's happening as a part of this forum.
