The U.S. Air Force is quietly spending millions of dollars investigating ways to use a radical power source -- antimatter, the eerie "mirror" of ordinary matter -- in future weapons. The most powerful potential energy source presently thought to be available to humanity, antimatter is a term normally heard in science-fiction films and TV shows, whose heroes fly "antimatter-powered spaceships" and do battle with "antimatter guns." ... Full Story http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2004/10/04/MNGM393GPK1.DTL ... "I think," he said, "we need to get off this planet, because I'm afraid we're going to destroy it." there is nothing more to said... It's getting really scarry. As if The US military forces where not strong enough to defend themselves. Actually it's more than that. I know what I am going to say might not be appreciated but that's the feeling people has arround the world. The hole idea behind pro american mentality is scarry. The patriotism, the military power, the feeling amoung americans that they are the best and that they could do whatever they want for their financial interrest, their flag at every streets corner, the God bless america on every presidential speech, etc remind me a "little bit" but still, of another country who also had that feeling 65 years ago. I'm not saying american are Nazi, don't get me wrong, I am saying that their government is doing the best they can to create that. Where else in the world then USA you see cars with country flag on it ? The Italian, French, chineese, Russian, name them have all good reasons to be proud of their nationality and country history, but you will never never never never see a french a car with a french flag on it in France. If you do, you probabily just seen Chirac passing. I am against all form of nationalism for it leads to what we've seen in Europe 65 years ago. Actually the last time a nation being so patriotist and proud of their flag as much as american are today, it was the nazi. |

> It's getting really scarry. ...more stuff... So, to sum up: "Don't be offended, but I think you guys are Nazis." Yeah, gee, I'm not offended. Way to lump a nation of 300 million people into a group and slander them all, Petit. That was classy. ------------------------------------ The game High/Low is played by tossing two nuclear warheads into the air. The one whose bomb explodes higher wins. God Bless Nepal? > Where else in the world then USA you see cars with country > flag on it ? Another example of Freedom of Expression. If you had France's flag on your car here nobody would chastise you for it. > The Italian, French, chineese, Russian, name them have all good > reasons to be proud of their nationality and country history, but you will > never never never never see a french a car with a french flag on it in France. Then I guess I will never never never never see that. No more no less. > If you do, you probabily just seen Chirac passing. Actually > the last time a nation being so patriotist and proud of their flag as much > as american are today, it was the nazi. Or maybe because with the technological advances in the media its EASIER to show our patriotism internationally. I'd really hate to think that if ANYONE in ANY COUNTRY was patriotic they would get compared to the nazis. Whats the opposite of Patriotic? An anarchist? A revolutionist? We might as well compare that to France (ie the French Revolution). This is the problem with stereotypes... |

Alright! Even if you had to wear a tank on your back to hold the positron juice- anti matter guns would be so cool. Shit those terrorists would be hamburger in one blast- talk about alley sweepers. I want one...cc |

I just trying to say that exagerated patriotism can be scarry for others. Europeans are ashame of the colonies part of their history, they don't show as much patriotism maybe because they have learned thru history that it's bad. The USA is a new country that became very powerfull very fast, american are proud for many reasons and I respect that, but you don't need to exasperate the hole world with that. Maybe the child need some time to grow. Friendly Marc |

I have the right to put my country flag on my car ! > That is what I call Liberty with a big L > People have the right to do it as well in France but I guess if > they don't do it it's because they would feel ridiculous running > arround with a french flag on the car. Hence the saying, "To each their own." > Why not. God bless america for non american sound like **** the rest. Then that sounds like a personal problem. When the President gives a speech, say the State of the Union Address he is speaking to America, not to France, Canada or any other country, whether or not your nation's media broadcasts it. If the President went to your country and said God Bless America then I can see where you would have an issue. Likewise if Chirac gave a speech and said God Bless France nobody over here would care. If he said that in the USA then we would have an issue. > LOL C'mon Misfit do you really belive that. Do you doubt my own personal experiences? > I'll make a test. I am now > in Montral (60 Miles from border), I'll put a French flag on my father's car > and go to the states. I am sure I won't get very far. Are you planning on flipping off people as you drive down the street? I see plenty of flags here from Mexico and nobody here thinks twice about it. > The question is why you guys really need to put it every where. "you guys" is another one of your generalizations. I dont see the flag "everywhere". Nor do *I* have a flag "anywhere". > ice storm[/url] and some electrical > worker came from the US to help ours to repair the huge damage. It's not the > first time, it happen in the past that electrical worker went to the US to > help in similar condition, anyway, In the small city where the american > worker > had rebuilt the residential power line, they have all nailed a USA flag on > all electrical post ! What is that suppose to mean ? Isn't it just too much ? See theres the difference. The repairman wasnt being patriotic. He was being disrespectful. Flog him when you find him. |

> > LOL C'mon Misfit do you really belive that. > Do you doubt my own personal experiences? I don't doubt your personal experiences but now I am currious about it. what did you experience in regards to this. I am cetainly exagerated when I want to say something, it's a deffault I have and if you had on top of that the language barrier... We don't say things the same way in french and when I want to express a feeling it seems that it always comes out very bad, but it's not what I really meant to say. Example. If I go to the states with a french flag on my car I will be stoped at the gates. My car will be turned upside down to find WMD because after what I have seen in the news americans really hates the French. (wine on the streets, freedom fries, a man wearing a t-shirt Irak now French after, etc,) Knowing myself I will complain and fight the custom officer and I will end up in that cuban prison with an orange uniform, etc, etc, It is of course Highly exagerated but the essence of it is true. I appologies for this. |

OK everyone. Go talk to your best science guru to confirm that no one has yet devised a way to create anti-matter in a useable form. Even the so-called positrons and positronium are more theoretical than real. The only place that such a substance (anti-substance?) might exist is in the largest and most complex particle accelerators, and despite the possibility of holding this stuff in magnetic bottles, it hasn't been done in any practical way. The article cited at the beginning of the thread is talking about theory and (probably classified) discussion of future development of this theoretical resource by the military. And before you think this is so sinister, remember the military has examined psychokenesis and ESP, too. It's a little premature, given the state of the science, to be building anti-matter bombs. |

"They All Laughed" music by George Gershwin and lyrics by Ira Gershwin They odds were a hundred to one against me. The world thought the heights were too high to climb. But people from Missouri never incensed me. Oh, I wasn't a bit concerned For from history I had learned How many, many times the worm had turned. They all laughed at Christopher Columbus When he said the world was round. They all laughed when Edison recorded sound. They all laughed at Wilbur and his brother When they said that man could fly. They told Marconi wireless was a phoney. It's the same old try. They laughed at me, wanting you. Said I was reaching for the moon. But oh, you came through. Now they'll have to change their tune. They all said we never would be happy. Darling, let's take a bow. But ho, ho, ho. Who's got the last laugh now? |

Carl, What are you saying? I don't want to put words in your mouth, and I don't know if I understand your point . . . |

> Carl, > > What are you saying? I don't want to put words in your mouth, and I don't > know if I understand your point . . . > > Tom- As a musician you may understand or not that I approach a computer keyboard in exactly the same way I approach a tenor saxophone. I'm never sure what it's going to sound like and dont much care because it, like everything else I do, is always improvisational. Occasionally I'm called on to get very specific, to play it as written, and I am capable enough to follow direction as the situation requires. But in my room after midnight there is no director standing at the podium being insistant. For the most part I approach these boards as an excercise in call and response which often leads astray but nevertheless can occasionally strike a rich and sonorous chord. So to answer your question as regards to my 'point' is impossible to say as it is in a constant state of morph into what I can only hope does not fall on deaf ears....cc |

I'm afraid that I'm going to have to invoke Godwin's law: "Godwin's Law" Actually the last time a nation being so patriotist and proud of their flag as much as american are today, it was the nazi. It didn't seem like we were going anywhere serious with this anyway. |
