Anyone using the new Windows 7 & having any problems with BOINC? I just put it on this computer. And I'm not having any problem yet, the OS seems to support BOINC without an issue. Was just curious if anyone else has tried this OS with BOINC. |

Anyone using the new Windows 7 & having any problems with BOINC? Hi, only heard of beta or try-out version of WINDOWS 7, it should be, a bit, faster and less memory hungry then VISTA (& XP), with better compatability then VISTA. Haven't tried it out yet. |

I've also acquired and installed Windows 7 x64 beta (from MS TechNet not torrent) on an Athlon x64 X2 6000 with 4GB DDR2 800 RAM. Boinc 6.5.0 Dev version. And running great for about three days now. In fact the CPU benchmarks improved over Vista x64 previously on same hardware. Sorry no Cuda processing, I'm an ATI guy. (Hope Boinc supports OpenCL at some point as I would love to see all those Stream Processors doing something.) Side Note: I'm loving the new Win7. No major new tech to speak of, except the new toolbar which is a nice change. It just seams to have a thousand little details that Vista is missing. It's all the little details that add up that make it nice. It's performing very well and feels snappy, but it also hasn't been running more than 3 days so we'll see in 3 months when it's had time to booger up. IE8 Beta works well, Only WMP 12 beta has had problems, but only when trying to close while playing something does it hang/freeze, but I like it still. cheerz, Calvin |

I also am running SETI Boinc on Windows 7 Beta (from Microsoft, not torrent). Besides Win 7 crashing a few times the first day, it seems to have settled down. so I have now installed Boinc with SETI and it seems to be number crunching OK. If I notice any odd behaviour I will post comments ASAP. |

I've recently installed Windows 7 and appear to be running BOINC fine, except for it thinking (confused) that I am and I am not running a CUDA machine. I'm not, but don't know why it thinks I am. This was a clean install, just installed BOINC 6.4.5, no enhanced apps. 1/22/2009 8:50:59 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by account manager. Running x64 version of Win 7 on http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=4812331, and RAC has continued to climb from 32 bit XP. So far, the improvements over vista are overall a great deal even though, as its been mentioned previously in this thread, its small things that add up to a larger improvement. Now if we can get OpenCL and BOINC to work together, I can really put some power to the pavement. |

People complained about the constant pop-ups, but I'd rather have that than a system that is easy to write a program that elevates its own privileges under Win7's UAC. |

You don't say which Manager version you are running but You might check in your preferences on your SETI Account page to make sure that your GPU is allowed to do work when computer is in use. You may be shutting it off every time you move your mouse. PROUD MEMBER OF Team Starfire World BOINC |

CUDA will not work when run as an admin process. You have to run it as a user process. http://boincstats.com/signature/-1/user/18390/sig.png |

hmm. CUDA runs fine on Win 7. I've been doing it for months. Currently with 6.6.20. See if this thread addresses your problem. -- Classic 82353 WU / 400979 h |

Thx for all the help. Now i've reinstalled BOINC 6.6.26 (as non protected installation) with the newest NVidia driver (185.xx). I checked the S@H settings and saved them unchanged. After this i updated the project and have a look: CUDA processes are running fine. It could have been a settings problem which has been solved by re-updating the project settings... |

I have also installed the Release Candidate version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit and I have had it going for about a week. It is available still from the below location and according to the site will be through July. Just click on the link on the top right about 2 inches down. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/default.aspx After installing it I found that I had to reinstall things I wanted to use ie... graphics cards, printer, a few drivers and games, but once I had done that it flew. It's also faster than Vista Ultimate by quite a lot. I have the following system... Zalman GS1000 Black Case 2x Zalman 9700 LED CPU Fans Intel Skulltrail i5400 Express Motherboard 4x 2GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz RAM 2x Intel Xeon E5472 3GHz Quad Core Processors 2x nVidia XFX GTX280 1Gb PCI Express Graphics Cards 2x SATA Western Digital Raptor 150Gb 3.5" HDD's 2x SATA Western Digital Velocoraptor 300Gb 3.5" HDD's Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 1200W PSU Vista Ultimate + SP1 19" AG Neovo Monitor DVD RAM Drive 48 Speed. and it has already gone up in Average Work Done by about 500 units per week! My Boinc Version is 6.6.20. Cuda runs realy well too on it. It's a pity Vista was brought out a bit too soon as there is very little difference between them, apart from a few of the flashy graphics (which I turn off anyway for a bit more speed) and a different quick launch toolbar system. Can't wait for the full release version as there are no doubt a few things that need a little tweak, (though I haven't found them yet). Try it yourself its great but make sure you have backups as the RC version runs out mid 2010 and if the final release version isn't out by then you will have a problem.
