Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've seen a seti data unit produce anything good. On a different account using the classic version (2004 or 2003, unsure), there was one signal that really blew away the rest of the spectrum. Some software features popped up that I'd never seen before. This one isn't quite doing that, but it is a pretty good-looking triplet. Each peak is at the same height. Rest of the spectrum is pretty quiet. I've picked up morse code on shortwave with signals looking worse than this on some of the software I have to decode it. I've seen worse/useful Gene sequencing data before (from a college lab). If it is something, it's probably something simple like a satellite or interference. The question is, have I found something interesting, without regard for alien life? At what levels does seti look deeper at a signal? I'm getting little green bars on top of each peak.

you may want to go check out the FAQ section of seti. All returned results get the same treatment. They are all takent seriously and are checked for repeatability. etc.

I remember reading a series of posts about the gov't messing with the SETI data, and I can assure you I am most certainly not from Norway. However, my father owns a chainsaw I think might be made in Norway... or Sweden. Nordic-land. I'm from the Pacific NW. Thank you for the reply.

Typically we aren't overly concerned with results that are returned just that they are returned. Berkeley collates the data and has reams of data to skim through. They get to do all the fun work of placing results on the skymap and figuring out what is junk and what is worthy of investigating. that is the science of the project.

We are the grunts we just crunch and crunch and ... well you get the idea. Our contributions allow the Berkeley guys to collect this massive amount of data which we hope someday finds ET
