WHAT is the difference between a photomicrograph, as here, and a photograph of a light spectra http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/birthstones/pages/diamond.html Would any small piece of this under higher magnification reveal more colors? WHAT is the difference between a photomicrograph, as here, and a photograph of a light spectra So, this picture is not a "spectra". It is simply a "photograph taken with a microscope" of a thin section of the surface of an uncut diamond. A sapphire photomicrograph has some similarly coherent patterns: http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/birthstones/pages/sapphire.html I cannot find a set of spectra for stones like diamonds. |
