Hi,

Motivated by the many posts reporting improved performance, I'm trying to compile boinc for my system. The configure stage seemed to go fine and it finished off with a recommendation to run test/test_sanity.py

Executing this script gave me the following messages...

-- Testing framework sanity --------------------------------------------------
Creating testbed in run-32391
Running CGI server on localhost:15391
Checking webserver setup: non-cgi
ERROR: couldn't access url: http://localhost:15391/html/test_sanity.txt ('http error', 502, 'Proxy Err
or ( Connection refused )', )
ERROR: couldn't access a file I just wrote: /usr/local/BOINC_COMPILE/boinc_public/test/run-32391/html/
test_sanity.txt
using url: http://localhost:15391/html/test_sanity.txt
Starting proxy server [sleep .]
FATAL ERROR: testproxy failed
Killing cgiserver
ERRORS.COUNT: 3

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,

John

I would guess this is the server portion of BOINC complaining becuase you do not have the correct webserver and sql database up & running.
If you are just wanting to compile the client I'd ignore it if I were you. Go ahead and make your client - see what happens then.

Hope this helps.

Yes! Exactly right, many thanks!

Reading back, I should have used the "--disable-server" option. When I include that I don't get the suggestion about running test_sanity.py.

Thanks again!
