I have completed a few unit and they have uploaded apparently successfully. However I do not seem to be getting any credit (or pending credit).

Additionally the work units in the projects folder do not appear to change or get removedonce completed.

Finally if I look at my computer on the stats site, it says it has only comminucated once with the BOINC server, but according to the command line this appears to be false. Below is a section of the terminal window.

You'll only see the (pending) credits after the program has contacted the server (probably after donwloading new workunits). You can enforce a contact with the server by using the "-update_prefs URL" option on the commandline.
According by your output there's also a problem contacting the server. It's probably down (today I had the same problem).
