I have a 280 on a vista machine and it works fine - On my winxp machine I have an 8800 gtx - cuda is seen by boinc, ap's are disabled and only enchnced wu's allowed.

But it will not use cuda. I thought that if BOINC saw a cuda device it would use it.

I had the same issue with an 8800 GTS (640MB version). No matter what I tried I could not get CUDA WUs to run, even though BOINC recognised that there was a CUDA device installed.

From reading other forums it looks as if there is an issue with BOINC/CUDA and the 8800 GTS 320MB (and 640MB), 8800 GTX and 8800 Ultra.

Needless to say it runs on my 280 GTX but I just got a constant stream of errors.

There seems to be an issue with the 8800 range(not with the 8800GT tough). The only way I could get it working was by manually installing the application via the package provided by Raistmer(look in this thread). Be warned tough that CUDA is not yet working as it should and that you do have to babysit it.

I still don't understand what the reason could be of the 8800 range of cards not getting any CUDA work assigned by BOINC. I hope this, with the other issues, will get solved if we get an updated version of BOINC.

thank you very much - it's working.

Spent 2 yrs in Bruxelles and loved it (many years ago) and Stella Artois is still my favorite beer.

damn - I am a noob.

I extracted all to seti folder and it seemed to work but....
It processed each wu in 27 sec and requested .01 credits - grabbed another and went to work - I knew something was wrong so I stopped all new tasks for seti.

It was running 3 processes and I have a dual core.

Thanks
