Ok I've been at this for 3+ hours. Tried everything I could find before starting a thread. Nothing is frickin working. I started with 6.4.5 and cuda 2.0 drivers. Detected cuda just fine.. then proceeded to use 6.03 Enhanced instead of cuda anyway. So I hit the forums. Tried Raistmers crap. Detected CUDA, proceeded to use 6.03 anyway. So I uninstalled 6.4.5 and went to a 6.5 x64 version. Guess what? 6.03 enhanced instead of cuda again. added a config file directing it to use 3 cores (my dual core + gpu) Restarted. Still 6.03. Added raistmers to this 6.5 setup with config file. Same result. ZOMGWTFBBQ. Is it supposed to be this difficult to set up? Additional info. OS: Windows Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.16ghz per core RAM: 2 Gigs DDR 2 HDDs: 2x 500 gig SATA2 6x 1TB SATA2 GFX: Nvidia 8800 GTX |

Tried Raistmers crap. He'll be interested to read you calling his attempts to give some ease of use "crap". Is it supposed to be this difficult to set up? Depends. What are your preferences set to in Seti@Home preferences? How did you install BOINC? Not as a service install (protected application execution), did you? |

I double clicked on the installer exe? And in my CP at SETI@home use GPU when available is set to yes. p.s. I suppose I could have said stuff. its just a turn of phrase. It doesn't mean I think his efforts are shit. |

I double clicked on the installer exe? Was it a clean install? You didn't change anything through the Advanced option in the installer, just went with the default installation options? You could try the 180.48 drivers. See if that makes any difference. Do know that Seti is also having some trouble at this moment giving out work and getting it back. Also know that you'd best abort the tasks you have before doing a project Reset (BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Projects tab->Select Seti->click No New Tasks->Tasks tab->abort the 6.03s if you really don't want to run them, but at least they keep your CPU warm->Projects tab->Select Seti->click Reset->Acknowledge->Click Allow New Tasks. |

It is entirely possible that Seti doesn't have work for the CUDA application at this moment. In that case you'll be sent the standard CPU application instead. I'd say let it run for now. |

dunno what I did differently but after about a million installs, re-installs, throwing files in random spots I finally got cuda working :) |

dunno what I did differently but after about a million installs, re-installs, throwing files in random spots I finally got cuda working :) Just looking at the stderr on the tasks you've completed, even though they do seem to validate (probably because of the script being run giving you credit simply because you're using CUDA), there do appear to still be problems, most likely with the driver you're using. The example I've given seems to be the same errors that all the task I looked at are getting. In all the tasks I looked at where credit was awarded, a third wingman had to be assigned, which may be due to there being no actual result given in the stderr. |
