I have just checked in to see if I have messages. And found I have a multilingual set of pages: home page, account, profile, etc. the whole nine yards in various languages above. The home tab is Russian, other tabs are in Japanese. Some labels and headers are in Spanish, as are some directions. Others are in Japanese or in English. Much of the page I cannot read because it is in Japanese. As an example, the Edit or possibly the Preview button below is Japanese and the OK button is English. The thread posting rules are in English, but there are Japanese directions above. "Buscar en los foras" appears at the upper left corner next to a search pane. How can I eliminate this? I find the Languages preferences and clicked on English, but nothing happened to change the situation. Please do advise or I will simply have to end my short association with SETI. I consider this a huge intrusion on my patience and a presumptuous abrogation of good manners. Thanks, Little Miss Calico |

Well, thanks to you, Gundolf, I have read what people had to say at the link you provided. It appears that all kinds of language mixes -- an unbelievable number of combinations -- have pestered some users. The problem seems to be tied to site software maintenance and also seems to be browser specific. It also may be related to browsers specific to iMAC machines. I have problems in the MAC browser Camino, but none in Firefox. I will check on Safari (there have been reported problems with this browser), and will also check SeaMonkey. Now have checked Safari - no problems there. Now have checked SeaMonkey - no problems there. Therefore, Camino must the problem on my machine. Of course this is of no help to people who have had problems with the other browsers. It remains a mystery how this happens. Thanks again. |
