I'd like to try running Darwin...Can someone point me to a thread or site with instructions on setting it up on an x86 machine? Thanks

I would assume you need to check with the Darwin Site. running seti is no different than any other program on your OS.

Darwin is actually the name for Mac OS X, at least all those machines you see listed as running Darwin x.x.x.

What you would be doing would actually be called a Hackintosh.
