For one of my machines running the SETI client under BOINC, the recent average credit is 14.45, yet the total credit for this machine is 11.28. How can the total be less than the recent credit?
FYI, none of the othter machines I have running BOINC show this weird result.

This has been asked before. From what I remember of that post: RAC is essentially a measure of speed. When you are driving in your car, you can drive at 50 miles per hour but only travel 20 miles. This will soon correct itself as things smooth out and more credit is granted.

Laymens answer:

RAC is a percentage of submitted WU's
Granted Credit is what has been verified by two other hosts
so you may have more RAC and Less total credit....

Hope this helps

Timmy

RAC is not calculated until credit is granted. RAC is a measure of speed.

If this is the first credit the machine has gained, the RAC value will be higher than the total value as the system is trying to extrapolate a true RAC value from a small result set. As time passes and more credit is earnt the value becomes more sensible.

As a very simplistic parallel, if I drink 1 cup of coffee in 1 hour the RAC calculation says thats 1 cup per hour x 24 hours per day = 24.

So my total coffee consumption would be 1 cup, and my recent average 24 cups.

or that's how I understand it :)
