You could backup your entire BOINC directory (and your data directory if using BOINC v6.x). But this will not be very efficient if you're experiencing power related problems, as you'd have to have an active backup or you'll end up with processing duplicates. But that's exactly the problem with your situation, where would you back up to? If the power in your area is bad, then who knows when the power might go out during a backup? It isn't feasible to back it up to the SETI servers since their bandwidth starved as it is just trying to feed all the active users, not to mention out of storage space on their servers. The great thing about BOINC is its resiliency. Even if your workunits are erring out, the workunit can be sent to another volunteer to be completed. Sure, you will lose the work, but the important thing is that the science is still completed. About the only solution would be to invest in a battery backup system so that when the power goes out, you can safely shut down your computer without causing errors in your work. |

I've lost power with different recomended versions of BOINC and never lost a WU, including AP, to errors because of it. |
