What i´m asking is if after all this millions of hours of processing was there any kind of suspect signal pattern detected ?

If it was, can anybody tell me something about that... I´m curious!

my best regards from Portugal to all of you who contribute to this beautifull project!

Not that we know of.

Signals from the same spot on different nights are comparred to see if they repeat. This is a server side process, and as far as we know it has not found any repeateble hits.

And what about any particular/relevant astronomical event discovered by seti@home?

Thanks

Again, not to the best of our knowledge. AstroPulse is looking for astronomic explosions, and S@H is looking for Extra Teresterial Intelligence. Neither has found anything yet.

Im just wandering is there an easy to understand explanation for triplets, guassians, pulses and spikes?

So if we get a strong signal as seti@home mapview tells me then it has to be confirmed a second time?

I guess its like the Wow signal then we are waiting for a second positive detection to confirm its not a miracle occurance?

If the signal is too strong, it is likely to be terresterial in origin. Which is why the signals have to be confirmed by sognals from the same point in space on other nights.

It there anything that could be done to disable seti@home? Just to remove the seti@home program for a particular time but has the option of starting the program again after that time has passed.

Yes, there are three different options for different durations.

1) For an hour, right click on the boinc manager button the icon tray and select snooze.

2) For a fixed schedule, either set it up on the web or in the UI. (you can have BOINC running for a few hours every day if that is what you want to do.

3) For a long time, in the Advanced view, select suspend for the run options. Select run always for the run option to start again. If it has been too long, you may have to abort any tasks that you had when you started the suspend.

4) You can also suspend just a single project from the projects tab. Click on the project and click on the button labeled suspend (it will change to resume).

5) You can do the same for a task. Substitute task for project in #4.

Would the system be able to detect a signal coming from a moving object?

From what i understand SETI counts on an ETI actively searching out other civilizations or or at least broadcasting its own existence. That is until we can listen closely enough to "hear" leakage broadcast or signals not really meant for us.

Point is, if they were actively signally, some sort of probe system would be a good way to get your signal out there in a wide range.Unless youve already mastered some sort of long range communication.

So back to original question. If that was the case and SETI got results for the same signal but at Different parts of sky and Different times would they be able to figure out if it was the same object

Yes, t is capable of detecting a signal from a moving object within limits (and I am not quite certain what those limits are).

My understanding (and please correct me if I'm wrong), is that there have been anomalies discovered that could point to ETI. However, when doing a followup on the best candidate signals, they didn't meet criteria (i.e. didn't repeat, in the wrong band, verified as natural or terrestrial phenomenon, etc).

The important thing to note is that the standards by which an artificial signal would be declared are very high, as they should be. Having said that, it wouldn't be scientific to assume that we have found something. But it's possible that we found something that was ambiguous and didn't repeat that COULD have been of ET origin but lacked sufficient criteria to be declared of ET origin.

You can look here for more detailed information that addresses your question;
http://www.planetary.org/news/2004/0902_SETIhome_Leaders_Deny_Reports_of.html

But officially, nothing.

It's a very very big haystack, and we're looking for a very very tiny needle.
